Jessie seems to have a special preference for snake-like Pokémon, owning both an Arbok and a Seviper. In The Ninja-Poké Showdown, she expressed a preference for Poison-type Pokémon in general, though several Bug-type and Ghost-type Pokémon have since appeared on her team including Yanmega, Gourgeist, and Mimikyu. When they encounter villains opposed to their personal or organizational goals, the three are usually more than willing to sabotage the evil team, even to the point of assisting Ash and his allies when they finally recognize the threat. In DP 102 while Ash was fighting Fantina, Jessie is seen participating in a Pokémon Contest in which she won with her Yanmega. As Here's Lookin at You, Elekid was the first episode in the anime to feature digital colored animation, Jessie's hair color was changed to magenta in all subsequent episodes. In all of the hand-colored cel animated episodes prior to this point, including movies like Destiny Deoxys and Lucario and the Mystery of Mew, Jessie's hair was colored red.

With the assistance of the Hoenn Champion, Steven Stone, the trio finally remove their disguises and tells them to move on to get Chespie while facing off against Team Flare grunts including Celosia and Mable. Meowth dressed as a Weavile again while competing in the Pokémon Dress-Up Contest in All Dressed Up With Somewhere To Go!.
