About this deal

Pretty much as soon as Sky moves into Winter Street she is caught up in the Christmas street decorating competition, so not only does she have to clear her overgrown garden, she needs to decorate it with many, many Christmas lights. This competition and the way in which the people who lived in the street rallied round to help one another made this just so perfectly festive. Add a little snow and some animal footprints, and it couldn’t be more festive! Don't get me wrong, I love Christmas and the holiday season just as much as everyone else who loves Christmas and the holiday season. I have just never been all that in love with all the holiday novellas and Hallmark movies which accompany it all. Winter Street is my first experience with an Elin Hilderbrand book. Other reviewers state this isn’t her best work. Though it does not provide as much depth as some other women’s fiction novels I have read, I still found it entertaining. Probably the features I liked best were the likeable characters, all the different family dynamics, and Ms. Hilderbrand’s humor that is laced throughout the story at just the right moments. apos;Record of Municipal Affairs in Sheffield 1843 to 1893& apos;, by JM Furness, 1893 (Sheffield Archives LOCAL FUR) Sky and Daz were destined to be together and (as is the case with most of these stories) you know where they will end up. They certainly kept us on our toes throughout which made for a more entertaining read. This book was about more than their romance though, it was about a community coming together, families reuniting and accepting their new relationships. I found that lump in my throat forming on quite a few occasions but I also laughed and smiled too.

This was a lovely Christmas read and another winner from Moorcroft. It was a detailed narrative with interesting characters that made the story more enjoyable. I particularly enjoyed picturing the beautiful snowy scenes of Middledip and this was what helped make this a great piece of festive fiction. By May 1948, Commonside Sanatorium was being run as an annexe to Winter Street Hospital, and by 1951 Dronfield Hospital was also administered in that capacity. This is done to preserve the anonymity of the people in that area, as some postcodes cover a very small area, sometimes a single building.Except for a partial cliff-hanger ending (some things are looking like a happy ending, other story lines are open ended, which I don’t appreciate), I enjoyed this novel about a man whose second marriage is failing and the challenges faced by his four adult children. I liked it because no one is perfect but no one is unlikable.

And then he sees Mitzi kissing Santa Claus. Mitzi is his second wife; Santa is actually George, the man who’s been playing Santa for their party for years. Love this author, loved the characters, and the storyline was lovely. All set in a snowy landscape – what more could you ask for?’ ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ In this, the first book in Elin Hilderbrand's Winter Street series, one family experiences a ton of chaos right around Christmas.

It’s also the perfect setting for Christmas and snow, and A White Christmas on Winter Street will give you full on Christmassy vibes throughout. Although the location is a familiar one, this book works perfectly as a standalone. I have finally read my first Elin Hilderbrand novel! And what a better way to start than with Winter Street, the first book of the Winter series. I've had this series on my shelf for a while and since it is December, I thought it would be the perfect time to get to them. Winter Street has a dash of romance, some holiday cheer, and a whole lot of family drama. It ended up being a lot more emotional than I had expected it to be, and this definitely goes above and beyond a Hallmark movie.

Sky, I loved her so much, you can’t help but feel for her and connect with her , even if I’m not an eco-vegan perfect soul that she is, she’s so likeable and you just want her to come out on top every time. Darragh is our gorgeous leading man, he seems so perfect, gorgeous, charming (once the initial hostility has passed) and loves kids, is he too good to be true ? Well you’ll have to read it to find out because you’ll get no spoilers from me. Maxi hemlines have been a key trend this season and one that we think will really resonate with the Browns customer," shares Gramston. "We've seen both new-gen and super-brand designers move away from micro lengths to a more refined evening look, pairing fitted maxi-length dresses and skirts with floor-sweeping, tailored outerwear. Alaïa's rich chocolate-brown interpretation, the sheer long dresses from Blumarine and Nensi Dojaka and Diesel's double-denim-skirt-and-long-coat combination were some of our favourite exaggerated silhouettes from the runway." For Scotland, 2011 data is shown (update coming soon, the Scottish census was delayed by a year unlike the rest of the UK). If there was a scale against which you could rate a book for its sheer Christmasiness, this lovely one would be a guaranteed 10/10 – it had just everything I could have possibly wanted. When Sky moves into the neglected house – with its dreadfully overgrown garden – on the corner of Middledip’s Winter Street, she knows she has a lot of work to do to get it into shape for the Christmas street decoration competition. Everyone else is stringing up their sparkly lights – she’s wielding a saw and lopper and firing up her big red shredder, hoping she’s not going to let the street down on the night of the Big Switch-On (especially those rather scary ladies from the organising committee). Daz is also a fab person but his kindness is almost his downfall as he can find it hard to say no which can sometimes lead to trouble. He’s taken on the role of shoulder for Courtney and Wilf and its the relationship with Wilf that draws him closer to Sky, you get the sense that something special could happen here as Daz starts to see Sky for who she really is.

Customer reviews

As with Christmas Wishes it’s the younger generations who almost steal the show, seeing Wilf bloom and grow in confidence after listening to Sky’s stories and starting to integrate with the other children in the village is one of the highlights of the book and it gives that warmth to you. There are of course other heart warming moments in this book but I’m not going to spoil it for you so would just recommend reading it yourself.

This book is just magical and really fuels my desire to get outside in the snow, I know it’s not likely to happen any time soon but when it does I’ll be donning my wellies and keeping my eyes peeled for the snow stories like Sky. Nature plays a massive part of this book and it’s prompted me to refill my little bird feeder set up – I’ve also been rather tempted to make some shaped fat balls as they sound incredible, rather festive and pretty simple – even if very messy! In October 1974 Trent Regional Health Authority put the upgrading of Winter St Hospital out to tender; during which works the patients were moved out elsewhere. On 10 December 1975 it was recommended that the proposal to rename the reopened hospital & apos; St George& apos;s Hospital& apos; be passed to Sheffield Area Health Health Authority. A White Christmas On Winter St, is a charming and engaging read. The setting of Middledip is idyllic and oozes warmth and community spirit. You can’t get more festive than this latest offering from Moorcroft, with lashings of snow, Christmas lights and love. It’s the perfect feel-good fiction to get you in the mood for the big day!At the establishment of the National Health Service (NHS) in 1948 management, like other hospitals formerly administered by the Council, passed to the Sheffield No 3 Hospital Management Committee of Sheffield Regional Hospital Board. That coupled with a sprinkle of festive vibes, a Christmas light street competition and a found family Christmas, it’s perfect for that Xmas literary hit in December. So, if you like a Christmas read with a strong storyline but still full of everything festive and fun, put on your Christmas pj’s and settle in for a cosy feel good festive read. And then there is Daz, who is a video game developer and tester which makes him my perfect guy on job alone, let alone all of his wonderful personality traits.
