About this deal

The Gerber Center Drive Plus displaces its non-Plus predecessor for this specialized award. The Plus takes all we liked about the original Center Drive and adds scissors and a larger blade, which we deem significant and worthy upgrades. The screwdriver configuration has a long extension and a handle ready for more torque. This award-winning Gerber centers the bit along the handle's long axis, vastly improving ergonomics and making it feel like a true, single-purpose screwdriver. The 12 bits that come with this model fit inside the included leather sheath along with the tool. Features Compound Leverage plier heads for smooth open and close and increased gripping power. A total of 21 tools are on the heavy duty, stainless steel PowerAccess Deluxe including two knife blades, can & bottle opener, wood saw, two flat screwdrivers, Phillips screwdriver and a 1/4" driver with hex bit kit. All-around stainless steels with similar qualities to the best 440 Series metals, providing good sharpen ability, good edge retention, and high corrosion resistance. PRODUCT WEIGHT

If your multi-tool use includes a lot of driving screws, choose the Center Drive Plus. It is the best tool we know of for that purpose. Otherwise, it's more average as a general multi-tool. The rattly construction holds up well but doesn't instill high confidence. The pliers are more prone to pinching than more sophisticated options, and accessing tools other than the blade, pliers, and bit driver requires multiple steps.

SOG Flash MT Review

A survival multi-tool is one that has functions and features that will serve you well in a SHTF situation. A lot of regular multitools are made for simple low-consequence tasks that you might do around the house. Not only that, but we’re friends with other survivalists who could give us great recommendations as well. All of them have just as much (or more) experience than we do, and we trust them completely. With functions, more is better, to a point. We choose a "multi-tool" because it has "multiple tools". We want multiple tools, of course. But we also need for each of those tools to be functional. Cramming in more, just to have more, is ineffective if the additional features don't work. Any multi-tool is going to optimize one attribute at the expense of the function of one or more of the others. The Baton Q4 optimized the screwdriver function. As a screwdriver, the SOG works nearly as well as a stand-alone option. With aftermarket accessories, it will even more closely approximate a dedicated screwdriver. All the other features of the SOG are significantly compromised in the interest of optimizing the screwdriver. Construction Quality

The few tools it includes — an upgraded steel blade, good pliers, screwdrivers, and a bottle opener — are the most often used, and this tool gets these right. But that's it; if you're seeking all the tools possible, you'll be let down with this stripped-down modal. Of the remaining tools, though, our biggest complaint is with the bit driver. With the Skeletool CX, even more than with other models, Leatherman could have easily included a standard 1/4" bit driver. Still, we have tested this model for over three years, and it has slowly grown on us. Thus, the Skeletool is our top recommendation for a portable, daily multi-tool to leave clipped on your person at all times. Phillips screwdriver is in the middle of the tool set which requires me to open other tool to get the needed tool out for usewe have a bottle and can opener which I never understand why they put on multi tool. If you have this in your hand and you can't open a bottle without using the bottle opener you really shouldn't be drink that bottle and can someone tell me when they last used a tin opener on a multi tool . Perfectly sized to go wherever you go, the PowerPint is a portable toolbox for the adventures of daily life. Aside from the size, there are a few notable improvements over its chief rival, the Skeletool. The Flash MT has a much better, pointier pair of pliers, allowing you to get in and do real work. The driver — a two-headed 4mm with Phillips on one side and flathead on the other — is small enough to sometimes not work on bigger fasteners. Like anything, price is obviously a factor. While it would be nice to get every high-end piece of gear you can find, that’s not an option for most people.
