You can easily make PVA size yourself from white glue and water (you can buy it premixed, but it's about six times more expensive than making your own). However, a note of caution: Elmer's white glue is not pH neutral and is not suitable for use as a size—use a brand like Lineco instead. The natural tensile strength of linen canvas demands a strong frame to support it. Choosing a keyable canvas stretchergives you the ability to adjust the tension of the frame over time, ensuring your canvas stays taut and firm.

Depending on where you live, the time it may take for your exchanged product to reach you, may vary. Some painters like the look of the texture of the weave showing through so they do not add many coats of primer, just enough to seal the canvas and give a white ground. Size, Primer, Gesso and Ground

Wet your brush in clean water and apply to your chosen colour. Dab the colour into a concentrated splodge onto a clean palette. Add plenty of colour so that you have enough paint to finish your piece. This ensure that the colour is consistent throughout. The growing and production process affects the colors of flax fibers. This means that different rolls of undyed linen fabric could be different colors, depending on their source and when they were produced.
