About this deal

An electric weed killer can make gardening easier– saving you time and manual labour. They’re also a great option if you have young children or pets, as chemical weed killers leave harmful residue on their surroundings. Finding the right electric weed killer for you might seem daunting at first, especially if you are a first-time buyer, which is why we have created this buyer guide so it makes choosing your first electric weed burner a whole lot easier! Understanding Electric Weed Burners

Comprehensive Research: Our team dedicates extensive time and effort to research and analyze products, so you can make informed decisions. These weed burners work by targeting the weeds with a short burst of heat that kills the weed. Once killed, the weed will naturally degrade and disappear over time, usually within two weeks or so and from what I’ve seen often much sooner. They are not designed to vaporize the weeds – a common misunderstanding and unrealistic expectation some consumers have. Weight is also an important factor when considering an electric weed burner, as carrying something heavy won’t be pleasant. We recommend choosing something lightweight, so you can navigate around your garden with ease. Temperature rangeDue to the fact that they work with a visible flame, they are also more likely to scorch hard surfaces such as patios and driveways. Burning fuel also causes fumes and releases greenhouse gases, making gas burners less environmentally friendly than their mains-powered counterparts. If you've got a small fire pit in your yard, you may be happy to find out that this tool is capable of lighting one. Just aim the tool at the middle of the pit as if you're aiming it at a weed, and give it a blast of hot air. Following that, the fire pit should light up, and you can do the same thing with a barbecue grill, too. Keep in mind, though, that it's best to use the round nozzle instead of the crevice nozzle when you're completing this type of task. The last essential thing that you need to consider before purchasing your electric weed burner is the accessories that it comes with. Just purchasing the weed burner itself isn’t always enough, as you could find yourself still struggling to remove weeds from more awkward parts of your garden! We love models that come with detachable nozzles (and a few of them) as this will allow you to direct the heat straight towards the problem areas and weeds in your garden. Some will come with standard circular nozzles, but also have spatula shaped nozzles and flat nozzles – these make it much easier to target the areas at the base of your fence panels or down the side of sheds or conservatories that would normally be inaccessible!

The long power cable is good as well, but the burner was let down by the weed-burning nozzle welding itself to the pole. If a weed burner has several nozzles, it will likely be more suitable for more completing a variety of tasks. For example, flat nozzles can allow weed burners to be used to strip paint (if recommended by the instructions). Extendable Handles Industry Connections: We maintain close ties with manufacturers and brands, offering insights into trends and upcoming products. The instruction book does not say what the spade-shaped and flat nozzles are for, but there’s a picture of the flat nozzle being used to strip paint. A more detailed description of how to use each nozzle would be beneficial, as it’s left slightly to guesswork. This electric weed burner’s 5-in-1 function includes: an electric weed burner, weed burner nozzles, spatula nozzles, flat nozzles, reducer nozzles and grill lighter nozzles for all of your weed burning needs. This electric weeder is also fitted with an extra-long nozzle to effectively eliminate weeds without damaging its surroundings.Weeds can be stubborn and prove a nuisance for gardeners. Even if your garden is mostly patio, weeds can still rear their ugly heads between the slabs and ruin its neat appearance. Similar to the first electric weed killer, this weeder has two heat settings. The first setting switches the electric weeder into a ‘cold air mode’ without heating and the second setting switches to the ‘high temperature combustion mode.’ The URBN GARDEN 3-in-1 Electric Weed Burner is marketed as a multi-functioning tool and comes with an array of nozzle heads which certainly seem impressive. Let’s see how it got on with a task of basic weed killing: It’s about the same price as other models that run hotter and have more nozzles. However, this was easy to use and more lightweight. Electric weed killer work in the same was as an oven – they heat up the weed so they can destroy the plant cells from root to tip. How do I use an electric weed burner?

If you’re prepared to pay more and are looking for a straightforward weed burner and nothing else, this is the product for you. As established, electric weed burners can save you hours of hassle and physical work from manual weeding. They also protect your garden from toxic chemicals that traditional weed killers are made from which means that electric weed killers are a great option to invest in if you find yourself having to weed your garden often. It has a maximum output of 2000 watts, and there are two heat settings of 50°C and 600°C degrees. This means this TooltTronix weed burner is slightly cooler than the Urban Garden and Parklands burners by 50°C. Finally, there is a 5 metre power cable included which is a much more reasonable length than the burners which have a cable of under 2 metres.

In terms of weight, this burner is light enough to hover easily above weeds although I did need a second hand to keep the extension pole steady. The handle is a long way from the burning end, so I had to concentrate to hold it in the required 5 cm hover position. Weighing just over 1 kg, this weed burner can be used comfortably for long periods of time. I found the handle fairly comfortable to hold, while the size of the flame can be easily controlled using the dial.

One thing to bear in mind, of course, is to be really careful when using a weed burner; these are some serious temperatures we’re talking about. The instructions say you should hold the tip of the flame 15 cm above the weed. There were no problems with this; the flame has a long reach and it was easy to see how close to the weed I was holding it. Plus, due to its light weight, it’s easy to hold. If your garden is being taken over by weeds, your favourite plants are being strangled and you can’t remember the last time you properly saw your paving stones then look no further – this part of the article is perfect for anyone that is in a hurry to start removing those pesky weeds and start enjoying their garden again! We will make sure you know your weed burner from your flame weeder and your garden flame gun from your weed torch. PowerOn the downside, it left scorch marks in the surrounding grass. However, on further examination of the instruction leaflet, I can see that it’s ‘not suitable for use in flower beds or on lawns.’ Oops – at least we now know why! One Week Later As mentioned, the handle ergonomics aren’t great and there are some components which feel a little low in quality. The cable is long which helps keep things safe as you can move freely. I did still need an extension to use it around the garden though.
