About this deal

With its AUTO REC function, the Micro Looper II automatically starts recording as soon as an input signal is detected, making it easy to capture spontaneous musical ideas without having to press any buttons. One of the buskers’ favorites, to be found upon many pedalboards. Boss offer their looping pedal range in a variety of configurations, from their modest but feature-rich RC-1 to their RC-500, the mothership of all looping pedals. The Looper X2 is the culmination of over a decade of experience - developing easy-to-use standalone and combination pedals. The Looper X2 supercharges practice sessions as well as live performances by empowering the player to start jamming as soon as possible. The Mooer Micro Range of pedals consists of everything from overdrive and distortion to delay, reverb, chorus, boost and other modulation pedals. If you can think it, you can find it. This includes the GE100 and GE200 Multi-Effects units. Size wise the Micro Looper is going to win a few friends. And whilst there are other similar sized pedals on the market, the 30 minutes recording time and unlimited overdubbing stretches the possibilities quite considerably. Whilst more complex pedals with added functionality and foot control options will suit some, it’s great to see companies such as Mooer also see the use for more straight ahead units that are intuitive and still user friendly. With a looper this size and price it’s an easy option to slot into a board (even if real estate is tight) for some extra vibes when needed, or just throw it in your gig bag to grab when inspiration calls.

I own about a dozen Mini Mooers of various stripes - and each of them does a fantastic job, while to date I only have one of the X2 Series - or namely the X2 Model X Preamp - which rounds up a load of Mooer’s Micro Preamps into a single enclosure - and those presets / algorithms mostly sound very analog in style with no noticeable hard or brittle Digital artefacts - some require some finesses on the dial in - but nearly all those varieties can sound pretty spectacular. For me this is worthy getting pretty much just for that Auto Record function - as unless you're Pete Honoré or another of those looping giants - you will often get the timing a split second wrong on the startup - so much easier if the pedal simply senses and knows when to start recording! This little knob can control the volumn of loop. Can’t hear your SOLO? Turn down your volumn a little bit! On paper, the Ditto+ serves both purposes in one unit, and as such that added versatility still serves a potent hook for those searching for an all-in-one option. The Mooer range is vast, but quite simply split making it easy to navigate. Though they started out as a company producing only mini pedals, they recently announced their Pro Series including the Devin Townsend Signature Ocean Machine Delay & Reverb pedal. The Boss RC-1 Loop Station is the simplest of the range. It is designed to be the most user-friendly for those of us who don’t want to read instruction manuals. It is easy to make a mistake when using a looper live; with an overly complicated pedal it is easy to forget whether you have disengaged the integral buffering linear wingwam before engaging the secondary memory bank of immortal doom…. Sometimes one button really is the best.

Seemingly to cater to those wanting both a looper and a drum generator, Mooer has also released the Micro Drummer II. Offering 48 grooves across eight different rhythm types and six music genres, the playing companion also offers Fill and Tap Tempo functions for greater rhythmic experimentation, as well as two EQ presets for different situations. This pedal only uses high grade components so that the signal going in and coming out of the pedal sound as close as possible. This means that no matter how much you layer up your sound will still be your sound so you can take this pedal live without worry.

I’m a big fan of both Mooer’s Micro / Mini and X2 series, while I think NUX has stolen a march with its Mini TRS Stereo pedals - that Mooer has yet to answer. Mooer is still though the archetypal Mini Pedals Brand - with so many great examples in that diminutive format - including fantastic gain, modulation and utility pedals - and the formidable Micro Preamp Series.

GE150

Obviously the larger pedals give you stereo output and considerably more features and options - while the Mini / Micro editions are still formidable and potent in their own right. The new style of Mini Pedal legends gives those pedals a more imposing look. And it’s not often you get Mini and Compact versions of the same effects all being launched / released at around the same time.

The Digitech Jamman Stereo Loop Pedal also makes it possible to slow down or speed up a loop to required tempo, and has a headphone output and footswitch input which allows you to add greater handsfree control over the features. Controls - Parts : 1-7, EQ Focus : Lows > Mids > Highs, Speed : 40 > 120 > 260, Level, Genre : 1-11, Save Button, Pattern : 1 - 11, Play / Stop Footswitch, Tap / Fill Footswitch, Press Both for Mode. But for those concerned solely with looping, it might just be a tad too much, and it’s here that we imagine the Micro Looper II could really make a name for itself. When Micro Looper is in the Bypass status, it would not affect the original signal, which ensures your signal to be clear and lossless.
