About this deal

Image celestial or terrestrial objects with this smartphone adapter! The Astro Fi has an smartphone adapter to capture great images of the Moon, planets, and terrestrial targets like birds and wildlife. With its light, rigid frame, this accessory allows you to connect any smartphone to any telescope eyepiece with an outside diameter of 45mm or smaller. This smartphone adapter installs easily over the top of an eyepiece while bungee cords securely hold your phone in position so you can snap images or video. While the vast majority of smartphones can be used with the case on, some very large and/or bulky phone cases (such as folio style cases) may need to be removed for the phone to fit in the adapter. This option proved to be the perfect solution to my balancing issues. I mounted an old finder scope to the newly installed base for better balance and a useful way to align the RC6. I’ve accumulated a number of telescope accessories from previous ‘scopes over the years, which is handy in situations like this. The telescope comes with an EQ-1 mount, which has easy-to-use slow-motion controls. We found that it was very simple to keep the focus on a moving object without it straying all over the eyepiece. The iOptron Photron RC6 telescope was a pleasure to use, and provided the deep-sky results I was looking for. The optical quality of the Ritchey-Chrétien design produced flat, coma and chromatic-free results as advertised. Surprisingly, this F/9 focal ratio did not reduce the amount of light collected in my image subs the way I expected. 3-minute exposures at ISO 1600 were well exposed, likely due to the increased 150mm aperture of the telescope.

Celestron 6-Inch Advanced VX Refractor Telescope - Black

The Newtonian can be found on alt-azimuth mounts, but you shouldn't be too surprised to find this type of reflector is more popularly affixed to an equatorial mount, allowing the telescope to follow the rotation of the sky while being aligned with your hemisphere's celestial pole. This reflector is a favorite in the amateur astronomy community due to its versatility in observing a wide selection of astronomical targets and allowing for astrophotography. With Newtonians, you can also buy a large aperture for less money — for instance, an eight-inch (203.2 mm) reflector would cost you less than a refractor with the same aperture, allowing you to get much more value for your money. While other astronomy apps may claim that they can help you find objects, they rely exclusively on the phone’s gyros and accelerometers, which aren’t as accurate as LISA technology. No other app can accurately tell you when your target is visible in the eyepiece. The Unistellar eQuinox 2, the newest addition to Unistellar's lineup, stands as their most advanced smart telescope to date. Building upon the success of its predecessor, the eQuinox model, this telescope features a number of improvements. In our Unistellar eQuinox 2 review we tested its ease of use, durability and compatibility with smart devices, and found the smart telescope to be eminently usable, not least because of its Smart Light Pollution Reduction feature, which aids its use in urban environments. Overall, in our Celestron NexStar 4SE telescope review, we found it to be a great telescope for beginners. It is easy to use, produces clear and bright images and comes with a variety of features that make it a great value for the price. What’s special about it: Very compact when disassembled, great portability for that telescope size, extremely powerful telescope, made for DSO observing.

The full GoTo motorized base makes this scope very unique in features and capabilities. In the beginning, you should set up the system by aligning with 2 stars and enter the current date and time. After alignment, you can use it as a GoTo system or regular Dobsonian by moving it manually.

The Celestron NexStar 8SE is a high-end telescope, and it comes with a substantial price tag. Nevertheless, it proves to be a worthwhile investment for those serious about skywatching or astrophotography. While it might be beyond the budget of casual astronomy enthusiasts, it is an excellent choice for those planning to immerse themselves in these activities for the long run. It very much depends on your stargazing style, how mobile you are and the quality of the night sky in your area. On paper, a big aperture is definitely going to improve your observation, but the truth is that there are many factors you should take into consideration: Excellent piece of hardware, a really large aperture, and great focal length sometimes can be too big.
