About this deal

The second and third volumes of the original trilogy, Fifty Shades Darker and Fifty Shades Freed, were published in 2012. The trilogy had sold over 150 million copies worldwide by October 2017. A version of the novel from Christian's point of view, Grey: Fifty Shades of Grey as Told by Christian, was published in June 2015 as the fourth book, followed by Darker: Fifty Shades Darker as Told by Christian in November 2017 and Freed: Fifty Shades Freed as Told by Christian in June 2021. Grey, the latest instalment in the Fifty Shades series, is told from male protagonist Christian Grey’s perspective. This information is probably redundant because the excitement that came with the build up to this book’s release was massive. To be fair, EL James gave her readers what they wanted; a glimpse into the life and psyche of Christian Grey. Again, to be fair, James does this extremely well. But curious readers aren’t those for whom James is writing. She says so, dedicating the book to “those readers who asked . . . and asked . . . and asked . . . and asked for this.” She’s writing for the acolytes, and one imagines the truest of fans reading with fervor Ana’s dog-eared story in one hand, Christian’s in the other, finally, finally gaining access to his impenetrable mystery.

Reading 'Fifty Shades' linked to unhealthy behaviors". ScienceDaily. Archived from the original on 23 August 2014 . Retrieved 22 August 2014. However, to me, this is not the same Christian Grey. Yes, I know the other Christian was from Ana's viewpoint, and sometimes she was a moron so her thoughts had to be taken with that in mind.

Fifty Shades of Grey author EL James reveals real-life secrets to her readers". The Belfast Telegraph. 4 July 2012. Archived from the original on 19 September 2012 . Retrieved 8 July 2012. Opening up to the Sunday Times magazine in 2017, Taylor-Johnson said she didn't regret doing the film, per se, "because that would just finish me off. With the benefit of hindsight would I go through it again? Of course I wouldn't. I'd be mad." He is DANGEROUS and UNPREDICTABLE with a hair-trigger temper. James comes very close to weakening Christian too much in "Grey." Through Anna's eyes it is easier to convey the danger by showing her constant apprehension and fear of Christian's reactions. But once we are inside Christian's head and privy to his thoughts, how do you transform him through love without losing dangerous and mysterious elements? The danger must be tempered with compassion and love but never to the point of emasculation. Therein lies the problem. I think she succeeds. She is a dilemma. She is like nothing he has ever encountered and his confusion is therefore ten-fold. Although he wants her absolute submission, it takes time for him to admit to himself that just maybe Ana won't be that woman. You know his wants are to say the least, "particular". Nevertheless, when the crux of the matter is presented on a silver plate, he oversteps the mark resulting in an omnishambles because deep down, he thought she was his to have.

But, this still isn't the character I saw in the original series. The bite has been removed from this man. He could be any twenty-something male, instead of the man who started his own company and ruthlessly made it a success in 6 years. A man who had so much money that he literally was king of his world. Yes, he was self-absorbed and self-important. But, he also had a right to be arrogant, and his accomplishments made him an important man. So it wasn't just in his own mind; it was earned. When he told Ana in the original book that she should be intimidated, I felt like he was simply telling the truth. He was such an important man in his world, and she was an innocent college senior with basically no accomplishments to speak of, and he honestly felt that she should feel that way. Yet, this Christian was insecure and wondering if he could intimidate her. Although he's supposed to be incredibly good looking, as well as incredibly wealthy, and women were always wanting him, this Christian constantly worried that she might not like him. WOMEN ENVY THE WOMAN WHO POSSESSES HIM. He is so beautiful and rich that other women desire him. James exploits this fact to the fullest. Women want to possess something that makes other women envious. Women want to be desired by a man that is desired by other women. We can be very very shallow creatures. As a business woman, EL James has already set herself up the chance to write two more books. It makes you wish you had the idea first. E L James revisits the world of Fifty Shades with a deeper and darker take on the love story that has enthralled millions of readers around the globe.Clarke, Suzan (30 May 2012). Will being with Ana dispel the horrors of his childhood that haunt Christian every night? Or will his dark sexual desires, his compulsion to control, and the self-loathing that fills his soul drive this girl away and destroy the fragile hope she offers him? Fifty Thousand Shades of Grey by British YouTuber and author Stuart Ashen. The title is literal, as the book simply consists of the phrase "Shades of Grey" repeated 50,000 times. Would the the extraordinaire that is, Mr Grey really say things like that? It was bad enough, and barely tolerable with Ana's 'inner Goddess'. When having to read 'the one and only' Mr Grey's inner voice it came across somewhat lame and was unfitting to his perceived magnetism and allure that E. L James successfully achieved in the original trilogy.

O: And the elevator doors close, leaving my name hanging in the air, sounding odd, unfamiliar, but sexy as hell. Once again E. L. James has not disappointed. The critics pounce, not having a clue what makes this series so addictive for women. Even many women have no idea why they are so fixated on Christian Grey. Millions of copies sold to women who normally don't respond to graphic sexual description in print should give these erudite critics enough of a clue to re-think what James does that compels women to buy book after book. And guess what? We will keep on buying and buying, even if the faults of the books beg us to rewrite them for her. In preparation for this release, I re-read Fifty Shades of Grey to re-familiarize myself with the book and the characters. I hadn't had a chance to re-read it before or after watching the movie, and I wanted to make sure I remembered what happened exactly as it did. While it made the scenes a little more repetitive for me to do this, it also was really eye-opening since I got to experience everything from first Anastasia and then Christians minds.

You'll soon be able to get your last peek into the mysterious—and sex-filled—mind of Christian Grey. Though dangerous, he is PROTECTIVE AND COMPASSIONATE and is at ease with the earthy side of life. Baby Christian tried to protect and care for his junkie mother; he adored his baby sister. Christian as a child is a formidable weapon in James' arsenal. Grown up Christian constantly cares for Anna and is not repulsed by normal physical functions. He can handle vomit, blood from periods, and smelly feet without so much as a blink. Intimacy in all its forms is no turn off for Christian. And, he is a man who cares -- "eat, eat, eat," he constantly nags Anna. Sounds like my mother.

Fifty Shades of Grey is a 2011 erotic romance novel by British author E. L. James. [1] It became the first instalment in the Fifty Shades novel series that follows the deepening relationship between a college graduate, Anastasia Steele, and a young business magnate, Christian Grey. It contains explicitly erotic scenes featuring elements of sexual practices involving BDSM ( bondage/ discipline, dominance/submission, and sadism/masochism). Originally self-published as an ebook and print-on-demand in June 2011, the publishing rights to the novel were acquired by Vintage Books in March 2012. Taylor-Johnson didn't return to the franchise, at least in part due to her problems working with James—who exercised as much creative control as she could, even bringing in her husband, Niall Leonard, to write the script for the sequels, Fifty Shades Darker and Fifty Shades Freed. To give you a better idea, compare the first chapter and Hardware store scene that E.L included in the original story. It was a closed set, and so we couldn't be there for those very intimate scenes...but so much of the movie turns on those intimate scenes," producer De Luca explained. "We'd be in our trailers, but [the actors] were miked, and we had cans—you know, headphones—but I actually got shy from listening. There was something about not being there and having the audio that made us feel like peeping listeners, and so we all put them down." Christian Grey exercises control in all things; his world is neat, disciplined, and utterly empty—until the day that Anastasia Steele falls into his office, in a tangle of shapely limbs and tumbling brown hair.He tries to forget her, but instead is swept up in a storm of emotion he cannot comprehend and cannot resist.Unlike any woman he has known before, shy, unworldly Ana seems to see right through him—past the business prodigy and the penthouse lifestyle to Christian’s cold, wounded heart.
