A number of these are designed for both beginners and younger astronomers – and chief among these is the Celestron FirstScope. Amateur astronomers refer to Moon filters as “sunglasses for the Moon” because they provide a more comfortable view and reduce eye fatigue. A clear December sky offered a gaggle of solar system targets including Jupiter, Venus, Saturn and the moon to test the telescope's optical system. There was also a fair amount of chromatic aberration around the edge of both the field of view and any high contrast targets, such as hills, buildings or even the rising Moon against the blue sky.
The FirstScope is a quality Dobsonian style telescope features a 76 mm aperture reflector optical tube. Once the measurement has been taken, we are provided with a series of results that show the optical quality of the surface plus other information. Once you have attached the finderscope to your telescope tube and have done some simple alignments, you will be able to point with the finder instead of the telescope itself. To determine the magnification power of eyepieces, you simply divide the focal length of the telescope by the focal length of the eyepiece concerned.
If you’re lucky, your target will then be visible in the eyepiece (or at least just outside the field of view. At the forefront of a new era in amateur astronomy, the launch of Celestron Origin stands as a beacon, seamlessly intertwining stargazing and astrophotography into a singular, user-friendly experience. You’ll also find that’s it’s difficult to focus as the eyepiece seems incapable of producing a sharp view. With several ND filters to choose from, you can find just the right level of light transmission for the Moon depending on its phase, the aperture of your telescope, and the magnification of your eyepiece.
