Filling can be achieved on the fly thanks to the design of the lift tab and the pod makes a very secure connection with the battery section. A highlight spec of the IPX80 is its 3000mAh battery. I say that it’s a highlight because the battery lasts for a reasonable amount of time, even when using the 0.16Ω coil. In my case, I vaped for 2-3 full days from a full charge when using the 0.16Ω coil at 40W. This ended up being around 270 puffs every time. The 0.6Ω coil allowed the battery to last even longer because it requires much lower wattage. Vaping at 20W I got 500+ puffs. When using the direct lung (0.16ohn mesh) coil the amount of airflow and vapour production was on point. By reducing the power down to 30W I still got a comfortable vape and both flavour and cloud production remained superb. The slight reduction to airflow is noticeable but still not enough to consider this your classic MTL vape. Again I was able to directly pull on the coil with no loss to flavour quality.

We highly recommend using an external battery charger for 18650 battery mods, as it helps with balanced charging and prolongs the life of the battery and mod, such as from worn out microUSB port. Never use damaged or improperly wrapped batteries with this device. We recommend all 18650/20700/21700 battery mods to use matching batteries with similar brand, model, and battery state at all times. As a direct lung vaper it’s always nice to take long pulls without fear of dry hitting – that didn’t occur once. So the diversity of the airflow system is most effective for those already familiar with the various restrictions available for direct lung vaping. We’re going to be relying entirely on the effectiveness of the dual rotary dials with the Smok IPX80 pod kit. Short circuit protection is protection against excessive currents or current beyond the acceptable current rating of the device. I’m highly impressed by the consistent performance of the 0.16ohm mesh coil in the Smok IPX80 RPM2 pod. Every vape was a flavoursome winner! RPM2 0.6ohm DC Coil rated 12-25W Rotating or spinning the rather stiff dials to the left will open the airflow as indicated and turning them right reduces it. You’re not given much to grip when making precise adjustments, something of a pain when making a 180 degree turn. As previously stated the 3000mAh internal battery will hold its own for an extended period of time. That’s something we’ll be looking at later in the review. SMOK IPX80 80W Pod Mod Kit features a 3000mAh integrated rechargeable battery, adjustable 1-80W output range, and can has a 5.5mL capacity.To sum it up, this has got to be one of the best vaping experiences I’ve encountered so far on a pod based system. The Smok IPX80 pod kit has an adjustable wattage mode as you would expect and the very welcome inclusion of fast type C charging. I really like the screen on this device. It’s tall and in full color and it just looks really nice. At the top of the screen is a battery life indicator complete with percent. The set wattage is in big numbers in the middle of the screen, followed by the coil resistance, voltage, a puff counter, and puff time. From the very first inhale I could tell this was going to be a very airy MTL vape. Far too much to even class as anything other than a restrictive DTL experience. The internal battery includes all the usual protections you would expect to find and it’s said to have a very rapid firing response time of 0.001 seconds.

Operating between 1-80W, the range of the SMOK IPX80, makes it perfect for delivering MTL or DTL vapor from the RPM 2 Coil Series. There’s also a compromise in flavour property. The increased warmth generated by the coil seems to nullify clarity and presence of the fruits while vapour production is as consistent as ever. On the plus side, the RPM2 pod isn’t going to accidentally fall out either. It may be heavily recessed but four strong magnets align with those of the inner battery, securing it into place. Airflow rings can be individually altered to fine tune your inhale and control your desired vaping preference. I always prefer to charge devices in a vertical position. Otherwise I’m removing the pods for fear of potential leakage.

Which Vapers Should Buy The SMOK IPX 80?

One big addition this time is the two airflow controls located on either side, something the RPM series has been criticized for not having in the past, these are independently adjustable to allow you to fine tune your vape to your liking. These are more helpful with the restricted direct lung coils and I found that having both of them set halfway open was best with the included 0.16ohm mesh coil, mouth to lung purists may be disappointed though as even with the airflow fully closed there was some air getting through. Overall, I really liked using the SMOK IPX80 for my regular nicotine ejuices. The battery lasts for a long time no matter which coil you use and that’s a strong point of this kit.
