About this deal

Any attached lens is subject to a 1.6x magnification factor with Canon, thus we're provided with the 35mm equivalent of a 28-88mm focal range. OK, so that's still not quite as high as the D3300's 24.2 megapixel resolution, but the Canon also offers a sturdy yet lightweight build, complete with eye-level optical viewfinder and fixed 3-inch LCD just beneath for composing our shots.

i was planning to buy 600d for 31k but then u see this amazing camera for only 22k with only difference as rotating screen, screen resolution and 3 shots per second compared to 3.8. I already had an 18-55mm version II EF-S lens from an older Rebel so all I needed was the body. Great price ... inexpensive way for me to upgrade to 18.2 megapixels and HD video and better light sensitivity!

Canon EOS T5 / 1200D Sensor

The EOS T5 / 1200D is capable of continuous shooting at 3fps and should maintain that rate for 69 large fine JPEGs or 6 RAW fles. To test it, I fitted the T5 / 1200D with a freshly formatted Sandisk UHS-1 SD card rated at 45MB/s, set the image size to large fine JPEG and selected the continuous shooting drive mode. With the shutter release held down the T5 / 1200D fired off a sequence of 100 frames with metronomic regularity and would would most likely have continued well beyond that had I not taken my finger off the button. I timed the 100 frame burst at exactly the quoted 3fps. Set to RAW, the T5 / 1200D managed the same 3fps rate for a burst of 8 shots before stalling and continuing at a much slower pace around 1fps. Creative Auto offers nine options including Standard, Vivid, Soft, Warm, Intense, Cool, Brighter, Darker and Monochrome, all of which can be interactively tweaked to suit your taste. Standard The Sony A3000 is an intriguing mix of mirrorless technology and DSLR styling. With a 20 megapixel APS HD CMOS sensor, 1080p HD movies, 3 inch LCD screen and an electronic viewfinder, could the Sony A3000 be the perfect step-up model for compact camera upgraders? Read our full Sony A3000 review, complete with sample JPEGs, RAW files and movies, to find out... Review Roundup Overall, the EOS 1200D excels in its rendering of colour, giving true-to-scene tones. In landscapes, skies are vibrant and punchy without appearing oversaturated, while tungsten light and skin tones are rich in colour.

best thing is that i got the camera at 17500 in the billion day sale. got an 8 gb storage card free. though i got the delivery of the camera one day late there was a timely notification for the same. The Live View button is within easy reach of your right thumb. Using this button it is easy to enter Live View, but it takes a surprising amount of time for the camera to actually display the live image (think several seconds). A grid line display and very useful live histogram can be enabled to help with composition and exposure, and you can zoom in by up to 10x magnification of the image displayed on the LCD screen. Focusing in Live View is achieved via a half-press of the shutter release as for normal shooting. The main upgrades over the previous EOS 1100D is a new 18-megapixel processor and improved full HD video, while the excellent nine-point AF system and powerful DIGIC 4 processor are retained. The best thing about the EOS 1200D is that the important things are right. The AF system offers both accuracy and speed, even in low-light situations. Equally impressive are the high ISO sensitivity capabilities. Unlike many cameras, I would be happy to use the EOS 1200D through its entire native sensitivity range (ISO 100-6400). Its construction is durable and overall the EOS 1200D is very easy to use for the beginner. Canon EOS 1200D – Key features

As a kit, the EOS 1200D comes with an 18-55mm f/3.5-f/5.6 IS III lens. With the 1.6x crop factor of the APS-C sensor, this is equivalent to 28.8-88mm in 35mm. Canon says the image stabilisation allows a slower shutter speed of up to 4 stops. Overall, the EOS 1200D preserves excellent detail in the shadow areas and I found that, providing the ISO sensitivity wasn’t set too high, I was able to maximise the dynamic range by shooting slightly underexposed and lightening the shadow in post-production. I have a few Nikon cameras and that is what I have been using in the past, but I thought Canon was an excellent camera due to I never used it before and the recommendation I was given from friends. However, this camera the Canon EOS 1200D Rebel T5 + 18-55 SLR is not worth my money. The color, the menu, and everything about it far inferior than Nikon. I'm sorry to say, I wasted my money.

Canon EOS 1200D review – Companion app

The maximum time per file remains 29 minutes and 59 seconds, but if the file size reaches 4GB a new file is created and recording continues. HD files are encoded at an a average bit rate of 330MB/min so the 4GB mark will occur after around 12 minutes, if you want to shoot for longer than that be sure to use a card with a capacity of more than 4GB. A fully charged battery should last for around an hour and a quarter of recording and you’ll need a Class 6 (or higher) SD card to support the maximum recording times. For the first-time DSLR photographer, this is a fantastic app. It provides information about the fundamentals of photography and clears up any confusion they may have about what certain settings or buttons do. Canon EOS 1200D review – Build and handling The T5 / 1200D’s built-in flash is popped up using a button just behind the main dial on the top of the grip. It’s not as odd a place for it as you might think because it’s programmable and can be assigned to ISO sensitivity. The flash is the same unit as on the earlier T3 / 1100D with a Guide Number of 9.2 in metres at 100 ISO. That’s a little less powerful than the Nikon D3300’s built-in flash which has a Guide Number of 12 and also offers wireless control with compatible Nikon units. With a GN of 9.2 the Sony A3000’s built-in flash has the same power output as the T5 / 1200. Both the T5 / 1200D and D3300 have a hotshoe, as does the Sony A3000, but the latter is Sony’s multi-interface shoe which can take an external flash as well as other accessories. On a practical note, the eye relief for the optical viewfinder doesn't jut out that far from the body, meaning that every time we pressed our eye close to it, our nose inadvertently bumped up against the LCD directly below. Inevitably you'll be rubbing the screen free of smears and prints after a while.

Improving the sharpness of the JPEG images is relatively easy. Picture Style has a default sharpness value of +3, but setting it to +5 improves the results. However, far more detailed images can be achieved by processing the raw files using the supplied software or Adobe Camera Raw. As well as a pop-up flash, the EOS 1200D also features a hotshoe. This allows users to attach any of Canon’s current flashguns as well as third-party alternatives. When light levels get low the EOS 1200D boosts its sensitivity to light so your pictures stay sharp and you can reduce the need to use flash. Shooting with ambient light is a great way of capturing the atmosphere of an occasion, and remaining discreet. The EOS 1200D's top-mounted shooting mode dial has a multitude of letters and icons. The so-called Creative Zone features Programmed Auto (P), Shutter Priority (Tv), Aperture Priority (Av), and Manual (M) modes. Canon's unique A-DEP (Automatic Depth of Field) mode has quietly been dropped from the EOS 1200D.

However, the launch of the Canon EOS 1200D comes at a time when there’s more competition than ever at the entry-level price point. With the options of small, light and inexpensive compact system cameras, as well as low-priced DSLRs from the likes of Nikon, Pentax and even Canon itself, the EOS 1200D has to do quite a lot to fight its corner. The highlight specification is its 18-million-pixel CMOS sensor and full 1080p HD video, but is it enough? Canon EOS 1200D review – Features
