Green and minty with a touch of melon and citrus to begin with, eventually becoming a marigold, carnation, amber, oakmoss and patchouli bomb.

There doesn't seem to be a lot of complexity beyond (what I believe is) the remanufactured moss and a blanket description of "earth. I proceeded to use Halston as my bedtime scent so as not to waste it, but then, I started to LOVE this chypre-heavy scent! With a concentration of essences between 2-4%, it tends to be much more affordable than other options. As any warm-blooded creature, who was remotely aware of Halston would, I eagerly anticipated the release of a new bio-doc, mini-series sharing the infamous name. A quick glance at the notes listed didn't reveal anything too horrendous, so I added this to my Christmas list and waited.and reading the notes on this site I got to find out what it had in it and no wonder I could not really put my finger on it since it complex but fabulous. The smell on me starts sharp, then becomes powdery and warm and soft, at times it feels like a hint of Private Collection hides, but then it is replaced by a woodier note. Halston's three scents of choice are Lady of the Night orchids (a scented breed), cigarettes (sweet as well as smoky) and, infamously, his lover's unwashed jockstrap, gamely smelled by Farmiga.

Alcohol free Halston is oily, doesn't last as long as the other version and sillage is clearly weaker. Since Halston and his perfume tend to be associated with Studio 54, disco, and excess, it was hard for me to listen to all of the Fragranticans who said Halston was a truly great chypre.When I, a person born in the late 80s, look at the glamorous disco outfits of the 70s and Halston's fashion, a scent like this would not come to my mind. You won’t really notice any difference between a product purchased from Perfume’s Club and a product purchased from a seller in our new Marketplace. It lasts 10-12 hours before it changes to a skin scent that I can still smell the next morning on myself, my pillow, and sheets. I understand that what I smell is slightly or even totally different from the original formulas, but I definetely believe that this fragrant is a piece of art for it's own sake if not compared to anything, not even to it's origins. Lastly, you can't beat Elsa Peretti's designs for the legendary Halston designs, both for the artistic bottles (look for the glass stopper one) and beyond.

I get compliments when I wear it out, so if you are a man thinking of trying this one out, don’t hesitate. It finishes as a woody amber, oakmoss and incense skin sent that will have you sniffing yourself for hours. One side is dark, damp and disquieting with its mosses while its counterpart of sweetness brings one back to better moments. Even as an accomplished artist in his own sphere, the contemplation of fragrance as an art form seems to leave him completely unhinged.

I love this perfume, its one of my new personal favorites, not my signature but a good companion to have around when im in the mood for its unique character and let me tell you why. She/Halston tosses me on my head and now 6 hours later, she is still lingering in my head and on my wrist.
