About this deal

While it shouldn't come as a complete surprise, given the combination of an aa-less sensor and a really sharp lens, I'm still surprised over how often I found it noticeable in the files that I got out of the Ricoh GR III. The high-end digital compact camera is equipped with an LCD monitor that supports touch operations and a convenient control dial. The only reason Ricoh stripped it off is because the already lacklustre CIPA rating of 150 shots per charge (less in practice ) would be a 100 shots with a flash .

The camera is quick to start up so if you see something you want to capture it’s easy to whip it out of your pocket, turn it on and snap away. They should have worked better on it: it was the only button on GRII that could be ‘palm dialed’ by mistake*. Furthermore, the optical system is slim and compact, allowing the body to accommodate an in-camera Shake Reduction mechanism. For fashion work you're shooting the OUTFIT and designs, not portraits, but even for that work I've never seen a soul working with a 28mm prime. The positive film preset emphasises reds with the hues and tones being better in its previous interactions in the GR2.

If the writing speed cannot keep up with the recording speed, writing may be interrupted during recording.

Maybe this might get a bit abstract, I realized over the last 3 years I had also evolved in the way I did photography.By connecting with the Image Sync app the location data obtained by the smartphone can be recorded onto captured images. seconds, the control dial conveniently positioned next to the four-way controller, and effortless touch-screen operation, to enhance operability and allow the user to swiftly react to once-in-a-lifetime shutter opportunities.

I wanted a camera that I could fit in the front pocket of my jeans that could literally go EVERYWHERE with me without making itself obvious to everyone around me. This leads me to my last point, some have mentioned that the GR lacks an EVF, a feature that is so common that some users will skip the camera because of this. It has now been well over one month since I picked up the Ricoh GR III, and I've been using it daily since then. There’s less space next to the grip beside the lens, and the supporting fingers have to move away from the center of gravity. Although these are all valid concerns, cameras cannot be all things to all photographers - something is invariably compromised along the way. That being said, however, there is a bit of rattle in the retracting lens mechanism that is somewhat unsettling.
