I cried and smiled reading this and thank you for being so brave to share your back story and it’s ups and downs.Though Danticat includes details from her own life in “Women Like Us,” she still incorporates the narratives of the fictional women she created in Krik? The emotions she felt because she lacked confidence and was overweight could have come out of my own journal.
