While I tended to favor PlayStation over Xbox previously, the Xbox Series line has won me over in some ways. Combine that with Switch’s new support for Bluetooth Audio and you can play The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild with a DualSense on-the-go without much hassle and cables – apart from the two USB devices. The converters are available in three different versions: Wingman XB (black/green) supports Xbox consoles (360, XB1, XSX|S), while Wingman XE (pink) was designed for PlayStation consoles (PS3, PS4, PS5) and Wingman NS (black/red) for Nintendo Switch. Brook's chameleon mascot is proudly displayed, and it feels well made and has a tight USB connection when inserted into my Series X USB port.

We tested each Wingman converter with a variety of shoot’em-ups, racing, rhythm and fighting games and found no noticeable latency in comparison with natively supported controllers of each console, no matter if we connected the input device via USB or Bluetooth. Naturally, players will have preferences on which controller performs the best based on their comfort levels. Imagine you’re playing Tekken 7– the throws are mapped to two buttons, such as A + X together, and this can be tricky to pull off in the heat of battle. Start by pressing ‘VIEW' and ‘GUIDE' buttons (or your controller's equivalent) to start this process. This was pretty mind blowing, to be honest, having sat there playing Forza Horizon 5 with a PS4 controller.
Just thought I might be able to use my Dragon Slay without the hassle of using a controller to convert. Every expected feature that they said should work worked well, and the DS4 touchpad doubles as an extra Xbox Guide button (aka home button). Well, if so, 1) personal preference is a wonderful thing, but you’re wrong, and 2) have I got news for you! The original Xbox is one of the consoles that is nearest to my aging heart, and unfortunately like all good things, getting new supply for old products has become increasingly more difficult as the years have passed.

While more Xbox-centric than some controller adapters on the market, it surprised me with its overall compatibility, stability, and performance. Huge thanks go out to Brook Designs for provisioning us with a review unit of the Wingman XB2 Controller Cross-Platform Converter. While I do have the official Microsoft wireless adapter for Windows, I thought I would try this as an alternative. In fact, you can use any of these controllers on older models of Xbox Consoles as well with the adapter.Wingman Converter series supports next to conventional controllers the Guitar Hero and DJ Hero controllers as well as many fighting sticks. While setting up and using the controllers with basic functions was relatively easy, trying to use the added functionality of Wingman XB 2 wasn't as simple. You can also find a controller compatibility list to see what exactly works on this Wingman, though I have heard reports from several that the list is actually greater than what's documented. New SEGA Astro City mini controller; MEGA Drive mini controller; PS3/ PS4 Fight Sticks; Hori - Taiko Drum Controller for the NS/PS4 and IINE - Taiko Drum Controller (288 version for ps4/switch/pc); Flight Stick (Must be updated to XB FS version) are supported. The PS4 controller I tried first went in and just worked, and the PS button was mapped to the guide button, and everything else was where you would expect it to be.

He loves gaming, movies - especially cheesy 80s and 90s action films, watching wrestling, MMA, and anything with Star Wars and superheroes. I tried an Xbox 360 controller, a Switch Pro controller as well as a PS4 and PS5 controller on my Series X, and all worked to play games relatively easily. And if it wasn't obvious, it is supposed to work with not just Xbox Series X, but also Xbox One, Xbox 360, and even the original Xbox if you have the USB adapter cable.
We strongly recommend you to check the aforementioned compatibility lists to ensure your favored device is supported before making any purchase. Speaking of Bluetooth: Thankfully the Wingman memorizes the last Bluetooth device you paired it with.
