Next, to add to the fun, I created toadstool stools for the seating for our little elf and fairy party guests. This was such an easy DIY project. You can see find a link to the step-by-step tutorial at the bottom of this write-up as well. I had so much fun with the food at our Ben & Holly’s Little Kingdom party! We had mixed berry cupcakes, “Little Kingdom Fruit Tarts,”“Gaston the Ladybird Pretzels,”“Gaston’s Veggie Garden” carrot and cucumber flowers, “Ben Elf Rice Krispie Hats,” and “Elf Horn Bugles.” “Mixed Berry Cupcakes and “Little Kingdom Fruit Tarts”: Tip: To create a smooth front to the hat, flood a glass pyrex 8×8 baking pan with the blue candy melts. Then, place each rice krispie treat into the pan. Put the pan in the refrigerator until it is fully cooled and hardened. Then, with a knife, cut out the triangular shape of each hat. If cooled completely, you should be able to lift the hat out of the pan easily. The part of the hat that was face-down in the pan will become the smooth, front of your Ben Elf hat!) If you have never seen the show, and you have a preschool aged child, it’s a must watch! The show follows the adventures of Princess Holly, a young fairy princess, and her best friend, Ben Elf. They live in a Little Kingdom where everything is very, very small. In this tiny land, even flowers and grasses grow above the tallest towers! Princess Holly has magical powers but her attempts at using her magic often go awry. Thankfully, Ben Elf is always there to help along the way. Holly lives in a castle with her parents, King and Queen Thistle, her twin sisters, Daisy and Poppy, and her teacher, Nanny Plum. Ben lives with his parents, Mr. & Mrs. Elf in the Great Elf Tree. Another main character in the show (and one of our personal favorites) is Gaston the Ladybird. He’s Ben and Holly’s special friend; much like a dog—he barks and pants.

In thinking about the party decor for our Ben & Holly’s Little Kingdom party, I immediately knew I wanted the tablescape to convey the scale of the large grasses and flowers in juxtaposition with the tiny Little Kingdom where Ben and Holly live. I also love the graphic style of the show. The flat color illustrations and layers of foliage and flowers were all something that I wanted to portray. The Little Kingdom is home to Princess Holly and her best friend Ben Elf. Holly is an 8 year old fairy who lives with her mummy, daddy and baby twin sisters in the Little Castle within the beautiful Little Kingdom. Princess Holly is still learning magic and often practices her spells on her best friend Ben. She is kept in line by her teacher and fairy-maid; the venerable Nanny Plum. Nanny Plum is Holly’s fairy maid and teacher, she’s very good at magic however sometimes even her spells go wrong! She can speak lots of animal languages and her favourite spell is to turn people into frogs! Gear up for adventure among the grass, this Ben & Holly’s Little Kingdom Inspired Birthday Party is full of adorable details you’ll want to stash! I created all of the party printables from approved graphics that were provided to me. I also put squares of artificial grass under each of the plates to add to the theme and atmosphere. To transform the drink bottles, I added a bottle wrap label and then glued the star from the top of Holly’s wand to the purple straws. I’ve included a link to all of the free party printables at the bottom of these details! Sitting at the top of The Great Elf Tree, we had “Ben Elf Rice Krispie Hats.” These were another favorite! I started by cutting Rice Krispie treats into triangles. Then, I covered them in blue candy melts. Once fully hardened, I added a candy leaf (the same ones used on top of the mixed berry cupcakes) by dipping the bottom of the leaf in the smallest amount of leftover candy melt and placing it on the side of each hat. Ben is a young Elf who lives in the Great Elf Tree in the Little Kingdom alongside his family and all the other elves. Non-magic Ben is skilled at making toys and climbing trees and helps Holly out of scrapes when her spells go wrong. Ben is cheerful by nature but he gets a bit fed up if Holly uses her magical skills to her advantage when they are playing games.
