About this deal

Open the Sealer jar. Dip your paintbrush in the glue and paint a generous layer on top of your painting – but not too much, as it could reduce the shine of your painting. You can use any painting brush of 2-inch size or any other size according to your diamond painting size. You can use just about any type of brush – foam or bristle. I use very simple brush from my daughter’s school supplies :). Mod Podge Dishwasher Safe Sealer is water based and non-toxic, but it is not a FDA approved food-safe product. This is why we recommend avoiding the areas around the rim of the mug where your lips will touch the surface. You can’t submerge an item that’s been Podged with Outdoor for an extended period of time, so it’s not technically “waterproof.” But it’s really, really close. Kids’ tables and dressers are another common theme based on the fact that kids can be rough on stuff and also so many spills. You should allow the Mod Podge coating time to dry properly before applying up-and-down brush strokes with another even layer of the sealer.

Technically, no. BUT if you Mod Podge a piece of paper to wood, it’s not going to come off without some serious work ( learn how to remove Mod Podge). The issue is when something that is Mod Podged is exposed to a lot of water. The product is not “built” for submerging or exposure to water over a long period of time (and consistently). Then you are going to seal the image in by painting another layer of Mod Podge over top of your transferred image.

There are waterproof/enamel sealers on the market (ask at your local hardware store). I’ve also heard that Minwax Polycrylic is amazing for sealing and making Mod Podged items waterproof. Do you know of a good non-toxic sealer I can use? Matte is good for enhancing visual designs with little glare. Where to Use Top Coats and Sealers Sealing Paper The terms Sealers and Top Coats are generally used interchangeably. For our art, they are practically the same thing. Both protect the underlying surface. Top coats provide embellishment or enhancement as an additional function. For example: A dimensional glaze product is used to add shine and height to a piece. A Matte Gel Medium might be used to produce a dull appearance or a Gloss Gel Medium to bring out the details of an image transfer. Both offer some protective properties as well. TIP: Make sure ALL adhesives, paints, inks, etc. are fully dry before you seal the piece. If anything is still wet, the top coat can trap moisture and become cloudy. Apply the vinyl to the mug, and allow the vinyl to move where it wants to go naturally. Don’t force it into a position. Just smooth it all down, and because you cut snips in the transfer tape, it will smooth and move into place.

Depending on the transfer method, all of the basic sealers work well. Glaze can be used over image transfers. Water-based Polyurethane is the preferred protectant on hard surfaces like furniture or wood. Oil based polys dry slowly and will yellow over time.Tin – Wash with soap and water, then wipe with a white vinegar dampened cloth if it’s really dirty.
