I opted to keep my Pure Elan Connect+ connected to the network here so I could connect to internet radio stations when I wanted. Other setup processes included date and time which you can choose 12 or 24 hours and also daylight savings too which I turned on. Public service and private stations: Access to a wide range of public service and private stations. The Pure Elan One has some welcome improvements over the Pure One Mi range. A larger full colour screen, a rotary knob for the volume and battery and mains power options are all useful updates. Compared to other budget radios the less shiny plastic finish makes it feel like a more premium product. Unlimited number of stations: Reception of up to 30,000 stations and streaming providers from all over the world via DAB+ technology.

They are usually only equipped with basic functions like the option to receive radio stations from around the world; however, they cannot stream music from a smartphone or tablet. Specs The Pure Elan Connect+’s 2.4-inch display may be colour, but it isn’t a touchscreen. There’s no app, so it connects to your home’s Wi-Fi network via the WPS button on a Wi-Fi router. Easy if you know what you’re doing – and it worked fine in our test – but this isn’t ideal if you’re gifting this product to someone who may be less tech-savvy. To browse the list of stations the forward/Stations button has to be pressed first. This opens the list of stored stations which can be browsed by turning the rotary knob left and right. A different station can be selected by pushing in the knob. This works well but if you forget to press the Stations button first you’ll find yourself changing the volume. Additional features: In addition to sound, Bluetooth radios with DAB+ technology can transmit images, information regarding the station, title or artist, and even videos, if the station allows for it.

The former is essentially identical to the product on review here, but doesn't include internet radio, while the latter is a stereo version of the Pure Elan Connect. So, if internet radio isn’t essential, then you can spend less; if you want the same features and stereo sound, you can spend more. A potential downside of the display is that the text is much smaller than on some other Pure radios and the similarly priced Roberts Play 10. Although the display is bright and the text is clear some users may still prefer larger text with less information. Our verdict on the Pure Elan One DAB respectively DAB+ (Digital Audio Broadcasting) radios have several advantages when compared to traditional FM (Frequency Modulation) radios: Pure is a leader in stylish, delightfully simple audio products that inspire joyful listening, no matter what format.The radio has a single 2.5″ full range driver and the specifications give the output as 3 Watts. At full volume the radio fills a kitchen and can still be heard over a kettle or cooking without the sound distorting.
