About this deal

Having a sympathetic character as an ex complicates the plot, making it not nearly as predictable as one might think. At first glance her novels appear to be "chick-lit" but once you start reading them, you realize there is a thoughtful depth to them. This isn't the most thrilling or emotionally moving of her books - when you're writing about the serious, dull, well-behaved member of a family of genial cuckoos, it's hard to make the story stand out. Her bestselling novels include Watermelon, Lucy Sullivan is Getting Married, The Brightest Star in the Sky and The Break.

She's not there to be cared about by the reader, she's only a vehicle for more scenes about how crazy Hollywood and the movie business is. In the cut-throat Hollywood setting, such women are one-dimensional; when Maggie tells men at parties that she is in town for some "down time", they quickly walk away. Most unexpectedly of all,she finds that just because her marriage is over,it doesn't mean her life is.

Y también es el momento en que suelto la última novela de Marian Keyes después de doce horas de lectura compulsiva, como sabía que sucedería (siempre lo hace) y por lo que no vacilo nunca al sacarla de la estantería. After the liveliness of the previous two books in the series it was boring and frankly I was relieved when I reached the page with the caption "epilogue". In short time Maggie is drawn into the crazy lifestyles of Los Angeles wannabes, which become great sources of amusing anecdotes. The book was supposed to tell a love story, but it's more of a side story, even if there are always flashbacks. This is an oldie but goodie I had in my shelves that I came across when I was waiting for a library book to come in.

Currently the 67th richest woman in the UK, with sales of her books topping 5m copies, Keyes is now in the Very Good Place. As you work through the book you find out more about her marriage, miscarriages and her relationship with another lover from her teenage years who she never really got over. But despite Keyes's talent, the romance structure, with its obligatory happy ending, always triumphs like an addiction, pulling her back into the realm of airport fiction and the mass market. Indeed, Keyes is a kind of Chekhov of the abandoned woman, eloquent and inventive about women's feelings of rejection, loss and desperation, and their ceremonies of recovery. Unfortunately I was bored, and was wondering what the clan were going to get up to, but to me, it seems they didn't get up to much!I probably enjoyed the beginning and the end most - it was the stuff in the middle that I could have done without. But is this really a once-in-a-lifetime journey of self-discovery, or is she simply running away from married life? After a few days of moping around her childhood home, Maggie decides to visit her friend Emily in Los Angeles.

The Walsh family also makes a pretty substantial appearance, and it’s always a joy getting to know them better. Over 22 million copies of her novels have been sold worldwide and her books have been translated into 32 languages. Discover this hilarious, heart-warming story about how far one woman will go to find herself, from the No. More recently, Marian co-hosted the popular show Now You’re Asking with actress Tara Flynn for BBC Radio 4. But ever since that business with the rabbits, and possibly even before that, things with Garv had been uncomfortable and weird. So when she makes a break for Hollywood with her best friend, Emily, her family and friends don't know what to think. Of course, Emily gets her man, too - this is romantic fiction - but she cares even more about making her films. She nails all the LA lingo, from the greetings ("Hey," "Yo," "Go, girl," and "You the man") to the terms of the trade: "good in a room" (skilled at pitching a screenplay to studio execs), "mattresses" (model-actor-waitresses), "pay theatre" (with actors paying for parts as a showcase for their talent), "so great! She then travels out to LA to see a friend of hers and stay there for a month to get her head together. Seré breve, porque los halagos hacia Marian siempre son los mismos, y las quejas, más bien escasas: me ha envuelto al principio y luego me ha ido desinflando, pero hasta que no me ha convencido del todo, no me ha dejado rendirme con él.
