About this deal

Dr Alex Cross is called to work on a Homicide case by his wife Chief of Detectives Bree Stone, as he knows both high profile victims. Both shot and all valuables stolen. Alex calls in best friend and former partner at DC Homicide, John Sampson to work the case. Whilst Bree works on a seemingly unrelated case involving kidnapping and murder... Lots of twists and turns going on through this investigation. Alex getting in some hairy situations, which isn't new to him. John goes through personal heartbreak due to a close bereavement, effecting both families... I would like to thank Netgalley and Random House UK, Cornerstone for an advance copy of Deadly Cross, the twenty eighth novel to feature psychologist Dr Alex Cross. The Alex Cross novels have been so successful there has also be a film series made. In the films Alex Cross has been played by both Morgan Freeman and Tyler Perry. A string of precisely executed bank robberies culminates in a tragic murder, thrusting detective Alex Cross into a battle of wits with a twisted and sadistic mastermind orchestrating the crimes. Detective Alex Cross arrests renowned plastic surgeon Elijah Creem for sleeping with teenage girls. Now, his life ruined, Creem is out of jail, and he’s made sure that no one will recognize him-by giving himself a new face.

Can you believe this is the 28th Alex Cross novel? I can't. It seems like only yesterday I was reading Along Came A Spider and although I've maybe missed a few Cross thrillers along the way, I love dipping into this so familiar series and getting my fix of the lovely Cross family. I would like to thank NetGalley and the Publishers Random House Uk, Cornerstone for an eARC for an honest review. I feel like I have grown up with Alex and his family, and they all blend in with the story, whilst finding out more about them all. In true Patterson style, we have a number of high profile cases that have fallen into the laps of Dr Cross, his partners in both FBI and DC Metro Homicide and his wife, Chief of Detectives, Bree Stone.

Ben Corbett is lawyer to the underprivileged and downtrodden in 1900s Washington, DC. Out of the blue, President Theodore Roosevelt invites Ben to the White House, asking him to investigate a resurgence of the Ku Klux Klan in Ben’s own home town.

Over the course of years young girls have been raped and murdered, all unsolved at this point. Then a socialite has been found murdered in a car at the local high school along side the Principal of said school. Alex is investigating the socialites case and his wife Bree a detective herself, his long time friend and colleague are investigating the other cases, also ones where the rich are being shot at, in the butt, to be precise. Could these crimes all be connected? Meanwhile, Alex, John Sampson and Ned Mahoney are investigating a double homicide. Kay Willingham was a Georgetown socialite, philanthropist, and ex-wife of the sitting vice-president led a public life. Murdered alongside her is Randall Christopher, a respected educator with political ambitions. It was the first Alex Cross I read and loved it, reading it in one setting. It's gripping, fast paced and highly entertaining. This time around brings some real sadness for John Sampson (no spoilers) so he may not play such a pivotal role within the crime investigation as per usual but his own story plays alongside. I wait for new Alex Cross books with a degree of impatience. This one didn't disappoint. There is less of the psychological insight in this one, and more of the dogged police work, but still a great read. Alex Cross knew both victims well. Especially Kay, who had been his patient once. And maybe more. Cross is left grieving, questioning who would want them dead, and why.
