It’s fair to say that 86 has been knee-deep in quite a dramatic arc, with plenty of things starting to change for our cast. So with that in mind, it’s perhaps no surprise that for Volume 10, author Asato Asato has decided to change direction for a bit and offers us a collection of prequel side stories. That's why she fights on the battlefield with them, despite her place in society and how most people in her position would only think of them as weapons to be used and thrown away at the end.

Speaking of writing, something else I appreciated this time around is Viktor’s personality being toned down a bit. In Volume 5 he was presented as an eccentric, someone to be wary of and perhaps even a villain, but this time around he’s mellowed out. It’s not that his attitude has changed but as we’ve spent so much time with him, it’s clear now that Viktor is just as lost as anyone else in this world.Sixth volume was out today and I feel like it was a very good volume all around, one of the better ones this series has released so far. Would genuinely be a very good series overall for me if the 2nd and 3rd volume didn't stink up the joint.
