About this deal

Often, a brand makes many big changes and the shoe becomes unrecognizable. This is true of the Ride 15, but it’s a very good thing. The Ride 15 is more versatile, more comfortable, and more energetic than any previous Ride. Performance: A- (Great at easy paces, daily paces, soft and flexible ride is nice, the shoe could do a little better at uptempo however)

Saucony Ride 14 | Saucony

One of the hallmarks of the Ride line is a lightweight feel, and the Ride 14 delivers on that, too. Saucony lists the men’s model at 9.4 oz and the women’s at 8.4 oz, depending on the size. At 10.15 ounces (286g) the Saucony Ride 14, is no lightweight, but it doesn’t weigh your feet or legs down. The Guide from Saucony has received high marks for consistently being a solid shoe in the brand’s stability lineup, as the mid-cushioned, firmer younger sister of the brand’s Hurricane which employs the softer PWRRUN+ midsole. Saucony included a padded tongue to alleviate pressure on the top of your foot, and they sewed it into a partial bootie for a precise fit. The upper gives the Ride a comfortable fit and soft feel, one tester says. The wide opening is easy to slide your foot into, and the narrower heel feels very secure,” one reviewer says. “When I cinch the laces down, my foot doesn’t budge. It fits my foot really well.”

Performance: B+ (Slightly softer ride. Really smooth forefoot, heel still a little clunky during warm up) One of the weight-saving factors is the minimal use of rubber on the outsole. The stripes are rather thin and are strategically placed in the areas that are most prone to abrasion. DPT/Footwear Science: B+ (Great forefoot flexibility, nice naturally stable ride. Bevel could be a bit more aggressive) The Ride 15 holds the foot snugly like an ideal hug. And in the forefoot, there's ample space for the toes to wiggle and splay comfortably.

Shoe Review: Saucony Ride 14 | Fleet Feet Shoe Review: Saucony Ride 14 | Fleet Feet

The Ride was cut from the same cloth as the Brooks Ghost and the Nike Pegasus. You always knew what you were going to get when buying it. This all changes with the Ride 15. New Balance’s 860 is also a comparable shoe, with a 10 mm. drop and similar weight, in the half-size larger 860 that my foot needs. The 860 has a more streamlined cut and seems to bring me onto my toes more readily than the Guide, with Guide 14 providing a more substantial-feeling base underfoot. There is no shifting and sliding around with the gusseted tongue of the Ride 15. In addition, it's padded enough (4 mm) to prevent the shoe's rather rough laces from digging into the skin. For Saucony fans, think of the luxe cushion from the Triumph collection but with a little less weight. The Ride’s upper has such a cozy feel,” she says. “The tongue is padded and cushy on the top of my foot, and the heel collar conforms to my foot perfectly.” Whether you’re doing an easy run or logging uptempo miles, the running shoes you wear for most of your workouts need to be comfortable. Thankfully, the Ride 14 delivers a classic, straightforward fit. Designers wrapped the Ride 14 in a lightweight mesh upper for breathable performance. The upper is seamless inside and out, which gives it a sleek look and mitigates the chance of rubbing or chafing.

Ride | Saucony

My first run in the shoe actually felt refreshingly light as I had been running in Gaviota 3. I ran some fast-paced intervals amid traces of melting snow from spring! Guide to Hurricane is similar to Adrenaline to Transcend (now replaced by Glycerin) in the Brooks lineup. Saucony used its TRIFLEX outsole technology beneath the Ride 14. The rubber outsole adds traction on pavement and improves the shoe’s durability, but it also prioritizes a natural roll from heel to toe. Personal: A (Nothing overly fancy, in all of the right ways possible, this is a consistent riding shoe that will deliver for many miles) Saucony has clearly taken a big risk with the Ride 15 but this uncharacteristic “go big or go home” approach has paid off. The Ride 15 is the best version of the Ride to date.

The 14 has a slightly different look this year, offering a bit more cushion to the tongue yet less around the heel than in the past, with more reflective material added to a similar-looking upper.
