About this deal

Caffeine/metabolites are excreted in human milk, but at therapeutic doses of the product, no effects on the breastfed newborns/infants are anticipated.

Don't take Lemsip max cold & flu capsules if you're taking any of the following medicines, because the combination may increase your blood pressure: To be made into a hot drink. Dissolve one sachet in amug of hot but not boiling water. Stir until dissolved. Taken during pregnancy it appears that the half-life of caffeine is prolonged. This is a possible contributing factor in hyperemesis gravidarum. a) Is on long-term treatment with carbamazepine, phenobarbitone, phenytoin, primidone, rifampicin, St John's Wort or other drugs that induce liver enzymes.

An overdose of paracetamol is dangerous and capable of causing serious damage to the liver and kidneys. Get immediate medical advice if you or someone you know takes too much paracetamol, even if you feel well, because of the risk of delayed, serious liver damage. Paracetamol: Paracetamol is absorbed rapidly and completely mainly from the small intestine producing peak plasma levels after 15-20 minutes following oral dosing. The systemic availability is subject to first pass metabolism and varies with dose between 70% and 90%. The drug is rapidly and widely distributed throughout the body and is eliminated from plasma with a T½ of approximately 2 hours. The major metabolites are glucuronide and sulphate conjugates (>80%) which are excreted in urine. Flu sneaks up on you. You can be infected for days before realising it. You can be innocently infecting others a whole day before your own symptoms show up. And you can stay contagious for up to five to seven days after you first go down with it.

Phenylephrine overdose is likely to result in: nervousness, headache, dizziness, insomnia, increased blood pressure, nausea, vomiting, reflex bradycardia, mydriasis, acute angle closure glaucoma (most likely to occur in those with closed angle glaucoma), tachycardia, palpitations, allergic reactions (e.g. rash, urticaria, allergic dermatitis), dysuria, urinary retention (most likely to occur in those with bladder outlet obstruction, such as prostatic hypertrophy). The product should be avoided during lactation unless recommended by a healthcare professional. There are limited data on the use of phenylephrine in lactation. Care is advised in the administration of paracetamol to patients with severe renal or severe hepatic impairment. The hazard of overdose is greater in those with non-cirrhotic alcoholic liver disease. Paracetamol is excreted in breast milk, but not in a clinically significant amount. Available published data do not contraindicate breast feeding. There are limited data on the use of guaifenesin in pregnant women. Guaifenesin has been linked with an increased risk of neural tube defects in a small number of women with febrile illness in the first trimester of pregnancy. You have non-cirrhotic liver disease (liver disease that is not associated with changes in the structure of the liver)

The drug is rapidly and widely distributed throughout the body and is eliminated from plasma with a T½ of approximately 2 hours. The major metabolites are glucuronide and sulphate conjugates (>80%) which are excreted in urine. You have Raynaud’s syndrome (poor blood circulation which makes the fingers or toes pale and numb), or diabetes mellitus If the symptoms of your cold or flu persist for more than three days, or worsen, consult your pharmacist.Guaifenesin: Guaifenesin has occasionally been reported to cause gastro-intestinal discomfort, nausea and vomiting, particularly in very high doses. Also, hypersensitivity reactions may occur. Talk to your pharmacist or doctor if you need this medicine on a daily basis for a prolonged period of time, especially if you have been advised to have a low salt diet.

Liver damage is possible in adults who have taken 10 g or more of paracetamol. Ingestion of 5 g or more of paracetamol may lead to liver damage if the patient has risk factors (see below). recommended daily dose of this medicinal product contains 482.96 mg sodium (found in table salt). This is equivalent to 24.1 % of the adult recommended maximum daily dietary intake for sodium. There have been reports of blood dyscrasias including thrombocytopenia, leucopenia, pancytopenia, neutropenia and agranulocytosis, but these were not necessarily causally related to paracetamol. Sympathomimetic agents: Concomitant use of phenylephrine with other sympathomimetic amines can increase the risk of hypertension and other cardiovascular side effects (see section 4.3).If you take paracetamol in the hour before or the six hours after taking colestyramine, the paracetamol is likely to be less effective. This is because colestyramine reduces the absorption of paracetamol from the gut. You should avoid taking Lemsip max capsules one hour before or six hours after taking colestyramine. The rate of absorption of paracetamol may be increased by metoclopramide or domperidone and absorption may be reduced by cholestyramine. Pregnancy and breast-feeding: This product should not be used in women with a history of pre-eclampsia. Ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this product if you are pregnant or breast-feeding.
