About this deal

From what I've seen, the preferred method is to get one of those small acrylic paints like Folkart you can find at Michael's. The question then becomes, if the new colors aren't the same, what can you do to match the previous colors. For the whitewash, you might have to seal/prime with clear shellac or primer to prevent bleedthrough. By not reading it, you could be missing important requirements for laundering your black clothes and cause them to prematurely fade. Washes are liquid, transparent colors for the creation of weathering effects on armor, vehicles, planes, ships, figures, war game figures and dioramas.

I've also experimented with salt on top of the latex masking fluid as it's drying - that helps break up the painted edges and roughen them up. The same goes for highlights, which will have a light basecoat and thus will be easy to get bright paints not to "die" on a dark background. The external flash on my DSLR needed new batteries and I had wet paint ready to wipe so I didn’t go upstairs to replace them but you can still clearly see the steps taken here.In my experience, I've followed exactly what Mr Savage says in that vid- Acrylic paint - Payne's Grey (if you can get it instead of black), Burnt Umber, Burnt Sienna, Yellow Ochre, cold Espresso coffee.

Yep - it acts as a light, transparent adhesive that'll hold the salt lightly in place and stop it getting blown away when you spray with paint. What you'll need to do this You aren't going to need much and I'm almost certain you have the four colors/washes already in your collection. What I've found is I sprinkle on some big chunks of rock salt and then immediately grab the salt grinder and add a twist on top - that way you get a few big chunks and a scattering of smaller sandy particles. This can protect your clothing from damage, dye transfers and make for better, more efficient washing.Vallejo washes are water-based acrylic, designed to enable you to apply definition and detail to your models quickly and efficiently. Vallejo Game Wash is a range of colours to create wash effects and techniques on miniatures to show on the surface of aging, use, wear, and shadows.

These types of enamel-based washes are applied on the area to be highlighted, and their formulation allows working and modifying the area of influence and the subtlety of the effect with the help of a clean brush or a brush dipped in Thinner. You can actually dunk a figure into any of them, however, this will require a lot of brushing off of the excess wash. From there all you need to do is pat dry it with paper towels (rubbing it dry will cause streaks) and repeat until you get the dirtied effect you want. I'd say that this technique would easily translate over to painting Salamander Space Marines with no trouble at all. In fact, it may be a bit better than what I'm doing here, but I haven't found a need to do it exactly as they suggest.

Line highlighting can be easy if you take a few steps in the beginning and set yourself up for success. Ammo filters can be used in many applications such as model railways, wargaming, Sci-Fi/fantasy, mecha, 3D printed figures, military modelling, role-playing games and many other model weathering applications.
