I really really really tried to like this book. The plot is 1000% what I was looking for and love... BUT THE DISASTROUS WRITING

Without giving away the story because you have to read it yourself, I'm so hoping that a certain soul up above gets to be born again to the same father but to a loving mother (hint hint Stephanie) The wrong use of the word ' as' is so numerous it would take a chapter on its own to describe. Let's just say it is far too many mistakes for a writer of this many books not to have learned proper writing skills at some point.

We get to see Amelia and Luc having personal time but also a lot more time with family and I'm really glad about that because we get a lot of laughter with it. While the fearsome sex scenes are extremely intense and erotic between these two, and who doesn't love growly Lucius, I sometimes felt lost in the story because it seemed they just kept being thrown in every other scene. I would have preferred more on the communication side. For instance, when Lucius finally got around to discussing his daughter, it was a glossed over paragraph in which the reader never was able to experience his emotions in the telling to his Chosen. There were some heartfelt moments, and it was nice seeing some normalcy. Christmas at home with the gang was fun - great to reconnect with the Afterlife side. I just which there was a bit more balance. Yes, I missed lucius, I won’t lie and did the Mcbain bro’s make up for it? Nope. Not for me. Yeah sure Trice is hot but for a die hard lucius fan that’s not a factor. THE HEROINE SEEMS TO FEEL EVERY THOUGHT SHE THINKS MAKES HER AN ESPECIALLY SPECIAL LITTLE SNOWFLAKE. I loved this book because I loved seeing Amelia growing, becoming independent and doing things without Luc, but I won’t say it’s my favorite even tho I feel it because there are more books coming so I don’t know if the next one will be my ultimate favorite.It’s hard for me to get into this book because for starters, it drags and drags and drags and drags... you get what I mean. And then the heroine is so unlikable. She could convince herself until she’s blue in the face that she isn’t the same naive, 21 year old girl who naively gave herself up to the Hero only to be humiliated, but alas, she’s still the same girl at 27 year old.

Okay so first off and for the 5th time now(I started reading these just after the second book came out)...WHY?!?! Seriously Stephanie are you trying to kill me with these cliffhanger cutoffs? I swear to you I will still read the next book even if there is no cliffhanger! I feel like I'm in an abusive relationship with these books lol. Vincent and Ari's story was to be continued, Jared, Sigurd, Seth and Lucifer's stories were never even started, and then the Transfusion series was written, which was YEARS after in the timeline (which often mentioned or hinted about previous characters and storylines...like the Blood Wars, urm... wtf happened? Inquiring minds want to know! Vincent’s story will be at least one more book!! Research trips have had to be cancelled which has delayed this but Steph is hopefully going to get this book as soon as she can. Stephanie Hudson thank you. Thank you for making me understand the meaning of a book slump cause after this book there is NOTHING that compares.. I have also written The Devil in Me along with my husband Blake. A dark erotic standalone story that we are both really proud of.Just hope the author doesn't drag this out to much and ruin it... Afterlife was going to be one of my all time favorites... but the kidnapping and Drama got a bit too YA for me ruining its initial premise and afer book 7 i really gave up caring what happened to the characters.... I was happy to get this book see they have all managed to survive happily up until now, without having to read all 12 books so silver lining. Our girl is a bass ass which we all knew she was but she saved everybody infront of her Daddy which yet again I thought was a lovely touch because he would not believe how resourceful she was before this time. These books have the possibility of being deemed in the top one hundred but the number of problems with the writing makes the books almost unreadable and that's a shame.
