About this deal

My recommendation to you is find a copy of it that you can try out and play it through - you'll probably like it, but then never play it again. I remain unconvinced that the mechanics for increasing difficulty when more characters are in the game really works since it’s reliant on more than one player drawing the same monster card, and that monster type then acts twice per turn. Each player gets on action (an attack, for example) each turn and usually they’ll reveal a monster on their turn. This was such a natural visual cue that I found myself making Zelda-esque sound effects as I flipped them, as if I was gaining or losing hearts in a video game.

Evil lurks in the towers and dungeons of Castle Ravenloft, and only heroes of exceptional bravery can survive the horrors within. But really, to suggest a game that has such great miniatures as this one does as “bland” is just silly. My personal distaste for co-op games is well known but Castle Ravenloft has joined the extremely small shortlist of co-ops that have become regular visitors to my gaming table: no small feat in itself. After that, people often spend their Hero phase dealing with the monsters activated by the previous player's turn. A few bad dice rolls in a row and a few bad Encounter card draws (the vast majority are bad and some are really bad) can put you in an impossible position early on. The first is that this quite possibly does the best job ever of capturing the spirit of those old-fashioned role-playing game dungeon crawls that were so much fun in the days of my youth. This is a very direct sequel to the first scenario, featuring many of the same cards, and another Villain drawn from the.

It was pure luck, I was surrounded by monsters but an Event card threw me to the furthest point of the dungeon away from everyone. Also, the bright colour draws the eye to the model’s head where black or a dark colour would have dulled it down.Since it's not easy to get attached to the characters there is a lot more appeal to testing yourself against an unpredictable meat grinder than there would be in an RPG. Pitting wits and muscle against spiders, wolves, zombies, gargoyles and wraiths among others and ultimately the villains of the adventures, flesh golems, dracoliches and the Master of Ravenloft himself to name a few. And by painted, I mean it’s been sitting part done on a series of shelves, tables and containers for the better part of a decade now.
