About this deal

Without good light you can’t see anything, properly. When it comes to focusing on what’s important, placing emphasis on good light is the key to enjoying whatever activity you’re doing. The LED housing swivels on a multi position head joint that is sturdy and won’t move around, even when you’re pressing the power button to turn the light on or off; or simply to change the brightness level. Some architect lamps let you adjust the amount of light they put out. If you prefer different levels for different tasks, look for one with a dimmable feature. Some let you choose between three or four different light settings. A hobby desk lamp should work so well you don’t even need to think about it. When you turn on your Neatfi desk lamp you’ll find a soft light emanating from LEDs (not light bulbs) housed behind a diffuser. The diffuser with the LED configuration provide a cool, natural light that is comfortable to painting miniatures with.

I can already tell that the Neatfi light will last me years and years from its mostly metal construction. The LEDs are rated for up to 100,000 hours of use, and will never get hot. The 3-yr warranty is a nice touch but I doubt will be needed. Cord length comes into play. Measure from the power outlet to the desk or table to find a lamp with a cord length that will easily reach.

I want to cut right to the chase, I think the Redgrass R9 Desk Lamp is the best lamp for miniatures you can get right now for miniature painting. A few things make this outstanding: 1. It produces bright natural light over a broad area and the light is very flexible With 117 LEDs and 2200 lumens and, as already said, it has a color temperature of 5600-6000K with a CRI 80. As a lamp for painting miniatures it is fantastic! Until now I had used more light points (the neon, the Ikea lamp, the lamp above the shelf). This inevitably generated different and uneven lights, although I tried to use the same colors, the result was never optimal. The Neatfi desk lamp, on the other hand, has solved this problem because with a single large light point, it allows me to illuminate the entire desk in a homogeneous way. You’ll find that although architect lamps are simple in design, you have a wide range of options in how they look. You can find some with solid finishes and others in brass or silver. You should be able to find the lamp that matches the room in which it will be used. Consider where the power switch is on the lamp you choose. One with a light switch that’s easy to access will keep you from having to fumble around for it after putting in hours of work.

In recent years, architect lamps have joined other light sources in prioritizing energy efficiency. This is closely linked to the type of lightbulbs they use, and LED tends to be the most popular. Look for the number of burn hours a lightbulb promises, as well as its eco-friendliness. You can see a bunch of them at the tables of pro painters if you go to miniature painting contests or look at images from the ( you can see some of them at the Golden Demon 2022 here) Ever find yourself fiddling around with the models, trying to get the spot you are painting into the perfect light? This is because the position of your lamp and your hands are causing shadows to fall on your miniature. Although all architect lamps are more flexible than standard lamps, some feature more swivel than others. Look for one with a wide range on the head, as well as adjustability in the arm. This means that you can spend ages getting the colour just right, but when you look at it in the morning (in sunlight) you will wonder why it now looks different.

Lamp for miniature painting Neafti XL: conclusions

At one time, architects spent hours at a drafting table, drawing up blueprints on projects. Technology moved that work to computer software, but the usefulness of architect lamps ensured they remained relevant. Today, architect lamps can be found on desks and other workspaces, providing easy-to-control lighting for a variety of functions.

If you go with LED you will get all that and you will also not have bulbs that produce heat (not great when you want to thin that paint!). Thank the maker for LED light. The Lightcraft Pro LED side by side with a lamp that produces a too warm and yellow tinge for painting miniatures and warhammer The most notable feature of an architect lamp is its adjustability. It has both a head and arm that swivels, letting you control not only the height but also the direction of the light. They have a lampshade that helps control the direction of the light, and the shade can vary in size. With some architect lamps, the shade is wider, while others keep it more in a circular design. Preferably you want no shadows from outside objects on your model while painting. To reduce this you will needbig coverage of bright light and getting something that sits above your paint station instead of being on the side of it (so you avoid casting shadows on the mini with your hands, brush and so on). It can be powered by a USB plug or power plug, but it is sadly not by battery (which would have made it amazing). You could take a power bank with it instead. Another great mobile lamp is the OttLite LED Mobile Task Lamp, which can be battery powered. if you go to conventions for painting miniatures, that might be a better option. While I find the R9 amazing and the best miniature painting desk lamp, it might not be for everyone. If you are looking for something even more affordable than our budget option way more mobile, the Uberlight Flex might be the one for you. It is a small, super mobile and very flexible little lamp. It is perfect for putting in the bag and taking to a friends house or on vacation. It is cheaper than the other options, but it will also cover much less space with the light. The colour accuracy is also not something to write home about. The small uberlight flex The lighting itself is important. Look for the number of lumens the lamp emits to see how much lighting you’ll get. The best light for painting miniatures will be light in the color range of about 5000. This produces a good natural white light that will reflect how the miniature will look in normal daylight. A CRI of 80 is normal, but not really that great. You need to get up in the 95+ range for this to be fun. 2. The light needs to decrease the amount of shadow on your miniature

The Neatfi XL 2,200 Lumens LED task lamp is the perfection addition for your hobby space, and I highly-recommend it for any miniature painter, scale modeler, artist, and hobbyist. Read on below to learn more about this must-have lamp! Oh, by the way, it’s definitely affordable when you compare it against other dedicated artist lamps on the market. Light is powerful for improving mood, motivation, and focus. In short, this is the desk lamp I would recommend you get if you do not currently have a decent desk lamp. Because of the LED lights technology, the lamp produces no heat and no weird buzzing sound (my last lamp drove me insane). Also, you will likely stop painting before any of the LED lights break. Well designed R9! 5. Flexible setup and well designed Today’s architect lamps often attach to your desk or table using a clamp rather than having a base they set on. This keeps your workspace clear for you to spread your work out, while also giving you the freedom to place it where you want it. This clamp is typically the same color as the rest of the lamp to make sure it better blends with the surrounding décor. While I won’t say that the lamp has a long arm, the reach of the metal swing arm is long enough to cast useful light across your entire desk. The best part about this lamp, in my opinion, is that it is so simple to use and have around when you need it. Will the lamp last me a long time? Value? For some reason, lightbulbs will pop from time to time ( it is like we lost the technology to make them last…). I would like as few obstacles to painting my minis, so something that is durable and does not require new lightbulbs is very good. Once opened, the lamp is practically ready for use, just fix the clamp to the work surface and connect the small transformer. As I said, the materials are of high quality and it is immediately perceived because the metal arm is able to lift and move the large lamp as you want, remaining stable and firm in the decided position. The lamp The overall look of an architect lamp also sets it apart from others. While they all feature that long arm, they tend to be built more for function than looks. You usually won’t find them as decorative as other lamp types. Instead, they may be a simple, solid color. Another important thing is not having unnecessary electrical parts for the desk lamp. Why have an on / off switch that breaks long before other parts of the lamp? Quality and durability thank you! The flexible swing-arm of the Neatfi lamp help keep the light stay over (or under) where I need it. Sometimes you may need to tilt the light to see the underside of a model. The lamp can do that and stay positioned while you work. The metal arm and wide shade combine to spread that diffuse light over a wide area.
