Sessions prices: If I could give one piece of career advice it would be.... do not depend on others to make your career happen, own it, take charge and believe in yourself. The next decade saw her gain credibility as an operations manager and she further enhanced her skill set with a move into marketing where she headed up the value food brands within Spirit Pub Company as the concept manager. In 2005 Karen was named as one of the 6 finalists for business woman of the year at the Publican awards.

Your lab motto is “Be bold. Be brilliant. Be kind”. Why is there a need for the last, and how should being kind manifest itself? It has been an exciting journey continuing my professional development into coaching. In 2011 I left my secure permanent position in the NHS, as a Psychological Therapist, in pursuit of my love of travel and sports. After helping so many others to listen to their needs, I had to listen to my need to experience other cultures. From taking this leap out of my comfort zone, I developed personally and professionally beyond my hopes. Sessions use effective evidenced-based coaching techniques based on sound psychological principles. Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) Coaching, Mindfulness, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Positive Psychology Coaching. After I returned to the U.K in 2014, I worked in senior positions for two successful businesses in Edinburgh whilst pursuing my career in coaching. During this time, I learnt vital skills in business management which assist me as a Coach. Furthermore, I discovered how to be successful in work, whilst being happy and healthy. Coaching has helped me realise what is important to me, how to create clear goals and live focussed on them. I founded Be Brilliant Life Coaching in 2017 and it is growing strength to strength year on year. We’d love to hear all about it in the comments below, and who knows you might just spark a great idea for awesomeness for someone in our Live Purposefully Now Community. Do share. We need your input. 🙂Now look at ” and I will follow all those steps” You have no idea if your going to follow all of these steps, telling these people who look at your comment wont ever help you to follow all of these steps so why is that part even necessary to even say or type? Because your brain “wants” and sometimes “needs” validation from anything or anyone. Most recently, in November 2020, I rejoined the NHS as a Psychological Therapist part time. The combination of working both privately and publicly for the NHS allows me the balance between structure and flexibility. Within my NHS role, I have gained substantial experience working with trauma. This has informed my private practice and has further developed my skills as a coach and therapist. Having experienced a successful career progression journey myself and the challenges that it brought, you could say…I’ve been there, done that and got the t-shirt! If you prefer, or live outside of Edinburgh, we offer sessions via Skype or over the telephone. Or you can try a combination of the three options, depending on your preference. Sessions take place in the daytime and evenings during the week, with some limited sessions available at the weekend. Please get in touch to find out more. Jenny and Samantha are taking on new clients at present, with a range of availability. Simply stated, being brilliant requires revisiting the strategic goal or aim – in our example, to offer up new and exciting facts to ensure audience interest, rather than to repeat her qualifications. (For those who didn’t read her bio beforehand, they could do so after the speech.) Being more specific, one needs to ask what are the one or two points the speaker wants the audience to takeaway. In our example: 1) that there will be a Rose Parade float celebrating a woman’s right to vote, and both the introducer and speaker will be participants; and, 2) the speaker has interesting and informative facts that add to the fuller picture of the American suffrage movement.

It’s not that they aren’t naturally lazy. They most likely are. But they fight it. They don’t give into what is easy. They work hard, show up every day, and make a difference. 4. Brilliant people are generous Calculated, safety risks are the path taken by normal people, the end of which transforms them into brilliant. 8. Remember, there are no mistakes, only lessons In person sessions take place in a comfortable and private therapy space in the centre of Edinburgh. Alternatively, we can arrange to come to you. Don’t just criticize and loft your opinion whenever you get the chance. Enhance the lives of others. Invest in people. 3. Brilliant people do the work

Last Thoughts: Is Brilliant Worth It?

When life throws a situation at you that is tough, don’t shy away. You can handle it, even if you need help. Because that goal was the point of it all. And if you can’t accomplish it, nothing really looks quite the same afterwards. Set new priorities and start saying no to things that you know you don’t want in your life and actively seeking the things that are fun and exciting to you. We’re at the assembly phase in the Human Cell Atlas initiative, which is mapping all cells in the human body using genomics technologies. It’s an incredibly exciting time where we are integrating data and building detailed atlases of individual organs. We can now integrate distributed systems like immunity, vasculature, the musculoskeletal system and so on, across the body. It’s like the phase in the Human Genome Project where the chromosomes were beginning to be assembled from the contigs to make the golden path of the genome sequence. It’s great fun, because there’s so much novelty to discover. We’re also starting to see the translational potential of the work, which is equally exciting. As a result we have lonely, disconnected, overwhelmed, overlooked, disorganised, reactive leaders who are not performing at the top of their game or taking a long term strategic business view.

Just the other day a friend of mine complimented me by saying I was “brilliant”. My knee-jerk reaction, was, “Why, thank you. Anything else you have to say?” 🙂 So, it really is a platform for anyone who just enjoys learning and challenging themselves. Its courses are based on active learning, and you will need to participate every step of the way. You can learn at your own pace and at any time, and you won’t have any deadlines or assignments to complete. The ambition of this research was to understand better why steps to date have been so ineffective, by getting under the skin of what really helps and hinders women as they try to advance their careers. This meant getting into the fine detail of people’s actual experiences, getting into the emotional heft that lies behind the well-known headlines and data.

To perform at their very best and achieve results, athletes have clear goals, build strategies, train, review performance, learn and adapt. They benefit from continuous professional coaches who develop relationships built on trust and provide objective support.
