About this deal

Meet Our Experts : Michele Green, MD, board-certified cosmetic dermatologist in New York City, Inna Lazar, OD, optometrist in Connecticut I have to say, Lisa's use of it really did impress me, and even more so that she has used it several times. I loved the look of it, and when I finally got fed up and started looking for SOME solution to my raccoon problem I started seeing a lot of talk about tubing mascaras. It took a while for me to sorta connect the dots but when I realized that this mascara that Lisa had used not only looked great and performed well enough for her to recommend it, but that it was also geared specifically for people like me who want something that stays on but washes off easily, I snapped this right up. I've tried just about everything on the market, drug store and high end. The problems I always ran into were thus... Sure my mascara would look great when first put on, but within an hour I'd be getting transfer to my lids both top and bottom. I was allergic to several formulas as well. And worst of all, many of them were so hard to take off, even with oils, that I'd lose eyelashes in the process of just getting my face clean. What a pain! DHC cares about using effective ingredients, so they chose olive oil because of its ability to hydrate skin without clogging pores. Before your mind wanders to food, this isn’t the cooking oil you have sitting on your kitchen counter. Originating in Spain, this strain’s fruit is specifically selected, crushed, cold pressed, and then ultra-purified in the company’s state-of-the-art facilities in Japan. Alyssa also spoke to experts to discuss important things to consider when purchasing mascara. Those experts included:

DHC is a Japanese skincare brand. Their headquarters are located in Tokyo. Does DHC Test On Animals? I love this stuff. It's everything I've searched for in a mascara, and I have tried so many... from the average ones to the expensive ones. This doesn't smudge, doesn't budge, until you wash it off (which sometimes for me is a full 24 hours later). No makeup remover required, just wash your face as normal and after you rinse, gently pull/slide the coating off. I learned to do this after I've rinsed, otherwise I get soap in my eyes. The look of it is more toward length than volume, but the formula is not thin either. I think it is well-balanced and definitely doesn't need more than one coat for a nice "lashy" look without being clumpy, still relatively natural. Charlotte Tilbury’s Pillow Talk line is iconic, and this mascara is too. Created to provide length and volume, it features a unique double-sided paddle brush that works to load and comb product onto the lashes while giving them a lift. It’s also smudge-proof and humidity-proof, making it a fitting choice if you’re traveling or you live in a humid climate. More worryingly, another negative review criticized the use of orange roughy oil in the brand’s Astaxanthin Collagen All-in-One Gel. The orange roughy is a fish that is currently being unsustainably used and is on its way to being endangered.

There’s a reason Japanese people have notoriously perfect looking skin. The company believes in the historical regimen of double cleansing: using an oil based cleanser to break down dirt and remove impurities before using a foaming cleanser to rinse it away. Operating from their headquarters in Japan, the brand is well known around the globe for their mission and high-quality ingredients. Before showcasing some of the bestselling products, this DHC Skincare Review will now highlight the overall pros and cons of the company: Pros DHC follows a Japanese theory called wabi-sabi, highlighting that imperfection is beautiful. The brand’s philosophy is to “ make you feel comfortable in your own skin.” With a focus on using the natural world to bring out the best in our bodies, their first ever product was virgin olive oil. This stuff doesn't budge! I have yet to have it flake or transfer at all, even after 10 hours in a hot kitchen. If you get your face pretty wet it might start to come off, but it doesn't do it in a runny way, just little clumps that can easily be wiped off.

These are all signs of a sensitivity or allergy to an ingredient in the product you're using, says Michele Green, MD, a board-certified cosmetic dermatologist in New York City. Preservatives, dyes, and fragrances are common culprits, she adds.

The Lip Cream received an average rating of 4.7/5 stars by 612 Influenster users. One customer who compared the application of this cream to similar products wrote, “ It applies so effortlessly. I hate when lip products require warming up/a lot of pressure to get anything on, but this lip cream glides on so smoothly it might as well be butter.” Alyssa Kaplan is an experienced writer in the beauty industry and product tester specializing in cosmetics. She has tested dozens of mascaras—including several on this list. Alyssa has been a commerce writer at Byrdie since 2022, where she covers all things beauty. The formula and brush work together to lengthen and volumize the lashes while giving them a lifted effect. The wand contains staggered bristles to effectively grip each lash, and we found that the bristles did a great job of separating lashes for a more wide-eyed look. The bristles on the tip of the brush also helped to coat the lashes in hard-to-reach areas, making for a full, even application. In addition to providing impressive length, it worked wonders in terms of giving the lashes a curled and lifted finish. If you struggle to coat your inner lashes as one of our testers does, this could be just the mascara you need. She explained that while she usually struggles to lengthen the small lashes at her inner corners, this product eliminates that problem. She did note that she wished the application was more even but admitted that the issue could be attributed to the shape of her eye, so everyone may not have the same experience.

The DHC Astaxanthin Collagen All-In-One Gel is rated 4.7/5 stars by almost 850 customers on Ulta. One reviewer wrote about how soft this makes her skin feel: “It makes my 69 year old skin buttery soft with no greasy feel. Makeup goes on perfectly over it with no grabbing or blotchiness… A little goes a long way.”If we could change one thing about this mascara, it wouldn’t be anything having to do with the brush. Rather, we wish it was a bit easier to remove. I have blonde eyelashes and oily eyelids, so if I don't want to look like an albino I have to tint my lashes, and when I do it usually makes it look like I'm still in my goth phase that ended about ten years ago.
