Saint George- A fat, balding adult in a Saint George shirt. He is far more intelligent than most adults, even to the extent of being able to remember some words and to plan. Toward the end of the book it is revealed that he is capable of thought and has a plan to hunt down and devour all children. Small Sam - A boy of nine, he is small for his age and enjoys fantasy. He is kidnapped early on in the first book and hopes to return to his sister and friends of the Holloway Crew. He is good friends with a boy his age known as The Kid. He uses a pin and later a sword as a weapon and wears armour. He is one of the few characters to have appeared in almost all the books of the series. With only children under fourteen years old remaining uninfected, the survivors must band together to fight against the threat of the adults and the threats presented by other groups of survivors.

It’s also AWESOME. And that’s not even the best bit. That comes later and eeerrrrrrgrgrghhhh it’s brilliant. The Natural History Museum kids celebrate World Book Day in the beginning of The Fallen, which is celebrated April 23rd, putting it roughly in an accurate timeline. Therefore, it can be assumed that the first case of the disease started sometime February or March, 2008 in London, England. Achilleus - The Waitrose kids best fighter, he uses a sharpened piece of metal fencing for fighting. He has short hair with shapes carved in the sides. He is one of the leaders of the Holloway crew later on, and has a group of friends, mostly the best fighters from the Holloway crew. He is described as skilled with the spear, but has been shown to be able to wield any weapon. Is also gay but shows no signs of resentment towards himself for it, is hinted that him and Will (from the Tower Kids) get together in The End.My favorite scene, however, took place toward the end. Two hardcore guys have an intense fight to the death. Oh my word. I could barely read it, yet I was fascinated. There was so much tension and repulsion and the stakes have never been higher. Shout-out to Achilleus, the fighter I was rooting for. Sorry you didn't make my "favorite characters" list, buddy, but sometimes you scared me. They'll chase you. They'll rip you open. They'll feed on you..."-- the book's promotional tagline [1] Well I really like writing for The Kid because he’s sort of half-nuts. I can have fun with language and references. Quite a lot of the characters in the books have syndromes but they’re not spelled out, so I have this idea that The Kid has this condition that he remembers every little thing people have said to him. He stores up all these phrases and lines of information in his head and then it all comes spewing out, even if he doesn’t necessarily understand it all. His brain is wired differently. He’s a lot of fun to write, and I can put in references to things I like such as Captain Beefheart songs.
