About this deal

The self-adhesive patches when combined with a rapid setting material like Gyproc Easi-Fill 20 provide a real quick-fix solution to what can be a time consuming and difficult way of repairing damaged plasterboard. It is sometimes skimmed with a couple of coats of plaster to give a uniform finish, or simply fixed in place and the joints taped and filled (known as dry-lining). Both Gyproc EasiFill 20 and Gyproc EasiFill 45 have minimal shrinkage, so you won’t need more than two coats. Gyproc EasiFill 45 has a working time of 45 minutes and the second coat can be applied after 80 minutes.

When the plaster starts to dry, lightly scratch the surface with the end of the trowel in this pattern. They are amazing for covering holes where single sockets, downlights or light switches have been removed, or for repairing general damage to plasterboard and plastered surfaces. Depending on the shape of the hole, whether its circular or has jagged edges you may need to use a padsaw, jabsaw or hobby knife. You will need a putty knife – any size will do – and some jointing compound or filler suitable for plaster such as Everbuild All Purpose Ready Mixed Filler.

Due to the nature of plasterboard and in a similar way hollow doors, they can become damaged quite easily. We reckon its ready to use when you can do this with a filler-knife full and the filler doesn’t fall to the floor.

With the batten positioned screw it in place through the front of the plasterboard making sure the screw heads go below the skim of plaster on the board. Now go back and fill the hole as best as you can, spray with water, smooth out with a putty knife and leave to dry. Once dry, get a 180-220 grit sandpaper and rub down until smooth and blended with the current surface. We are a UK based online community of professional decorators, combined across several online platforms. Jiggle the plasterboard repair piece into the hole and hold it in place for a few seconds to give the adhesive time to ‘grab’.Safety Data Sheetsare important documents in the construction industry and assist in the continuing focus on occupational health and safety on and off sites. Squeeze on some ‘instant grab’ around the edge of the board and then wind in a long screw to the centre of the repair piece. Now you need to measure and cut two noggins (horizontal wood that bridges the gap between the studs). Plasterboard is quite soft and the slightest of impacts such as when moving furniture can mark the surface and even put a hole right through it.

The exact same principles of this job can be applied to filling holes in a number of other surfaces such as repairing holes in hollow doors.Gyproc EasiFill 45 is also available in handy 1kg sachets in our Gyproc EasiFill 5x1 boxes, perfect for smaller jobs like application of plasterboard patches. Another complication that springs to light when you have unfortunately made a hole in a plasterboard wall or hollow door is the void behind it due to the construction of the stud work used to hold the plasterboard up or provide the framework for the door meaning that you can’t just use filler as there is nothing to bond it to. Then cut two battens (19 x 38mm timber will suffice) and make sure they are 100mm longer than the size of the square you have cut.

Gyproc EasiFill 20 or Gyproc EasiFill 45 * are ideal for filling small holes, patches and cracks in plastered surfaces. Once dry, you can gently rub down the plaster or filler, and then paint the repaired area to match the surrounding wall. Typical applications include covering holes where electrical sockets or downlights have been removed, damaged plasterboard created by door handles and general everyday damage to interior walls. PREVENT FURTHER DAMAGE - The reinforced metal centre prevents further wall damage, creating a strong bond with the wall hole covering to make the patching quick, easy and preventing repeat damage in the same area of the wall. Gyproc EasiFill 45 is also available in handy 1kg sachets in our Gyproc EasiFill 5×1 boxes, perfect for smaller jobs like application of plasterboard patches.Another way to fill a hole in plasterboard is to enlarge the hole first to make a square of a suitable size. Some products may be delivered straight to your door from one of our suppliers and these products will be labelled within the product description. Larger areas of missing corner can be repaired using a plastering corner bead which is fixed to the wall below the level of the existing plaster and then plastered (rather than filled) up to. Use gentle pulling pressure, while moving around slightly to ensure good contact between the adhesive and the back of the surface until you are sure the adhesive will hold the piece in place.
