About this deal

She is not only convinced that her sister murdered him, but also believes that she has not yet left the house. The former mayor of NYC, Frank Avellino is brutally murdered at his house. His two daughters, Alexandra Avellino and Sofia Avellino were present at the scene. Now on trial for murder, they both accuse each other. Which sister is the murderer? On appearance it appears obvious who is the guilty party. The sisters born a year apart but really are quite different. One successful, a golden girl in looks and endeavours. The other pale and troubled. Alexandra and Sofia’s reputation preceded them. But is all as it seems? The evidence increasingly seems as it could go either way in supporting or damning each of the sisters. When Eddie meets Child he's convinced the man is innocent, despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary. With the FBI putting pressure on him to secure the plea, Eddie must find a way to prove Child's innocence while keeping his wife out of danger - not just from the FBI, but from the firm itself.

Convinced that he cannot in any way count on the police, Leonard turns to the one person he believes will help rescue her daughter. She’, the killer is aloof, calculating and determined. Her psychology appears to place the sadistic childhood both girls were subjected to by their mother as the catalyst. It made me wonder where their father was during this period. Leaving me unsurprised and unmoved to find out that one of his daughters mutilated his body during the murder. Are we to believe its the consequence of a father who was absent and even when present oblivious. Or is there even more to the rationale? Book Group conclusion was it’s a easy beach type read, with some liking it a lot more than others who got fed up with the twist and turns. Group review 6 out of 10

That’s the beauty of her character, I think — Cavanagh has created a compelling character you’ll relate to, you’ll root for at the same time you’re following Eddie and wishing the same for him. There is a brilliant switch up of narration somewhere in the middle of the book. That is the crucial part of the storyline. It had me on the edge of the seat. But one of these women is lying. One of them is a murderer. Sitting in a jail cell, about to go on trial with her sister for murder, you might think that this is the last place she expected to be.

Steve Cavanagh is an Irish author from Belfast and at the age of eighteen, he studied law by mistake. He is now the international award-winning author of the Eddie Flynn novels Tabitha Hardy is in prison for murder, as House of Correction opens. But she’s convinced it won’t be for long: “I still feel like I’m in the middle of a car crash and the crash is going on and on and on. But soon they’ll realise that all of this is crazy and let me go.” The problem is that Tabitha can’t remember the details of what happened on the day Stuart Rees’s corpse was found in the shed outside her house; she suffers from severe depression and “she couldn’t remember that day, or only a few snatches. It had been a day of wild weather and of a crouching fear. The kind of day she had to crawl blindly through, just to get to the end.” My favorite character is Kate Brooks. Her character development felt so good. There were many important topics touched in this book like the #metoo movement or the nation divided by race etc.Another character that I loved was Bloch. She was uptight and really cool. I would love it if there was a separate storyline of hers. The killer is absolutely genius in her way of killing and she is merciless to the point where she actually enjoys the thought of hurting people.

Sofia and Alexandra both find their father’s dead body in his house, with enough evidence for the DA to be happy if one of them gets put away for the murder. Eddie isn’t going up against the DA here; he’s going up against the killer, which he’ll say is Alexandra, while her lawyer, Kate, will say it’s his client, Sofia who is the murderer. It was a dark and stormy night. Lightning flashed and thunder rolled across the sky. Rain spattered a mysterious, hooded stranger who peered over thEddie Flynn used to be a con artist. Then he became a lawyer. Turned out the two weren't that different.
