About this deal

Sheldon ( Jim Parsons) who disdains Christmas as a pagan ritual is disconcerted when Penny ( Kaley Cuoco) brings him a Christmas gift. He now feels obligated to buy her a gift that matches the value of her gift to him, and enlists Wolowitz ( Simon Helberg) and Koothrappali ( Kunal Nayyar) to help him with this task which they reluctantly agree to. After deciding on a basket of bath items he discovers a large selection, so not knowing what Penny will get him, he buys the entire range to cover all contingencies. Penny's gift to Sheldon is a napkin both autographed and used by Leonard Nimoy. Sheldon, overwhelmed since he now possesses Nimoy's DNA and can grow his own Leonard Nimoy, gives Penny all the gift baskets and also a rare "Sheldon" hug. At dinner in Apartment 4A, Raj tells everyone that his parents are divorcing and getting themselves lawyers. Sheldon would not hire the She-Hulk as a lawyer, if he ever needed one. Penny compliments him for almost staying on topic for once. Sheldon adds that since she is the only monster at her law firm, she must be an affirmative-action hire. Since Raj's father is visiting, he can't host Christmas Eve dinner so Amy volunteers since she always wanted to host a traditional England|English Victorian era|Victorian Christmas for gang including parlor games, goose and figgy pudding. Sheldon doesn't like figgy pudding because of all of the raisins and won't come. Amy replies that he is coming. Sheldon claims that she hates him; however, Amy corrects him that she loves him, Sheldon adds that there are still a lot of raisins in it. Raj is a little miffed about themed-holidays since they didn't like his "Tom Hanks"-giving, and is pissed when everyone takes an interest in Amy's Victorian theme. The A.V. Club reviewer Oliver Sara thought that the episode made Sheldon more sympathetic, while changing the dynamic between Raj and Stuart to something similar to Tobias Fünke and Michael Bluth from Arrested Development. He hoped that the writers would commit to answering the question finally on whether or not Raj is homosexual, and gave the episode an overall grade of "B". [5] IGN writer Jesse Schedeen enjoyed both halves of the episode, but felt that the girls' bar scenes needed more time. While he compared the use of Advanced Dungeons & Dragons in the episode to "Advanced Dungeons & Dragons" that of the series Community, he said the "results were characteristically brilliant", [6] but that the "D&D adventure was more of a loose framing device in this case". [6] He compared Sheldon's breakdown in the episode to that of Pierce Hawthorne in the Community episode, and thought that Sheldon's family revelation was dealt with in a silly manner rather than something "overly depressing". [6] He also enjoyed the beginnings of a new bond between Raj and Amy. He summarised the episode by saying "Season 6 has generally been underwhelming after a fairly strong start. This was the first episode in a while that I genuinely enjoyed without any real reservations." [6] In this episode, Amy throws a Christmas party with a Victorian theme. Coincidentally, Amy's actress, Mayim Bialik, also had a wedding ceremony with a Victorian theme. TV Critic called it the best episode of the season, praising the episode for "Combining character development and humour in a blend which this show can do really well." [5]

Sheldon sports a light blue TV Test Pattern (vertical stripes) tee, his ManBot t-shirt, arguably his favorite as it is the one he has worn in more episodes than any other - and in more colors (green, blue, and purple). Also a plain dark maroon tee, and his purple shirt with the Philips/Stooble test pattern. The show originally centered on five characters: Sheldon, Leonard, Penny, Howard, Raj, Amy and Bernadette living in Pasadena, California. This group of friends was entertaining to watch as they went through familiar highs and lows with work, relationships, and friendships. Like the universe after the big bang, the show’s popularity expanded, premiered on September 24, 2007, and ended on May 16, 2019, with a total of 279 episodes over the course of 12 seasons. Title Reference: The title refers to Sheldon's present and strategy for his Christmas present to Penny. The guys spot David Underhill, the university's cool and hunky star physicist, in the cafeteria and are surprised when he wants to work with Leonard. Returning from work, Leonard is enthused about working with the good looking physicist. Penny drops by to talk about Christmas presents, inviting an earful from Sheldon who does not appreciate the obligation put upon him by reciprocal gift-giving. After Leonard is injured by Dave's stationary motorcycle, Dave helps him up the stairs to his apartment where he meets Penny. Penny is instantly charmed by Dave and agrees to go see his lab. Elsewhere, Sheldon is searching for a gift for Penny with Raj and Howard's help.

Sheldon reacted by acting anti-socially and getting his ear pierced. Also, Leonard and Penny had a series of mishaps chopping down a Christmas tree and bringing it home, while Bernadette and Howard have been struggling to cope with a constantly screaming baby. Eventually, Bernadette does resolve the problem by climbing into Halley’s crib and sleeping with her. If you’re like me and miss the series, then the holidays are the perfect time to sit down and rewatch the show! But if you’re busy and don’t have time, then you can at least celebrate the season with the comedy’s Christmas episodes! Leonard: [realizes his mistake, and is now sympathetic] Sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry! Never mind, we’re cool. [sits next to Penny on her couch]

Howard seemingly contradicts the original history where Leonard met Howard and Raj together at Caltech and not Howard first as depicted in " The Staircase Implementation" (S3E22). As the group gathers to decorate the Christmas tree, Raj mentions how his newly divorced father will be in town soon and as a result he won't be able to host the annual Christmas eve dinner. Amy volunteers to host the dinner this year as she's always wanted to host a traditional Victorian Christmas party. Penny arrives, albeit a little late.] Leonard: Mom, you remember Penny.
