About this deal

Just a few update pics. Didn't realise I was so far behind on what Ive already sent. So hopefully I will send another post a bit later which will bring me up to date of where I am right at this moment I painted them randomly using a combination of colours that blended together well, rather than any specific uniforms. For the foreign legion guy, I need to add the rifle strap and paint his watch and cap badge.

OK, enough of my previous mishaps and onto this one! I wanted to make this base a bit more 3 dimensional so Dale kindly lent me his filler (Poly Filler). I tend to use the same size cases for my 1/48 scale vehicles, as supplied by Justbases.co.uk. These are the perfect size, cheap and usually supplied with a MDF base. One of the guys at work made me a load of wooden bases for them from a bit of mahogany supplied by new member Malcolm. Cheers. NoelSmith; thanks for the figure tip. While it would not have worked in this case, it definitely will in some of my other situations. The die-cast came with only half of the transfer case molded and a gaping hole for the other half. So in the process of trying to create the other half of the transfer case I ended up recreating the entire case pretty much. Here it is with the engine sitting in place with the completed radiator, chassis bracing, steering box mount, radiator cap, copper overflow tube, and the start of the transmission which will be fixed to the transfer case. While waiting for those items to arrive I took a moment to modify the smaller M2 MG that came with the die-cast and turned it into a M1919 30 cal MG. This included a new mount, complete barrel with metal liner, and trigger assembly which were all built from scratch. The M1919 ammo can was from spares. I think I am going to use this as a drivers MG mount (directly behind the left front fender). I have seen a couple like that in vintage photos.

While working on the front of the jeep I also observed that nearly all of the SAS jeeps had several of the grill bars on the jeeps removed (usually keeping the center two). Based on the real vehicles photos I did the same to the die-cast body. PaulAyrey wrote:Looks great, can't wait to see how it finishes up!Cheers, Paul. Its coming along slowly. Mrs DW would look at my hours of work, and I could see the smile starting to appear in the corner of her mouth. We would then sink in to fits of giggles at my dodgy attempts.

It looks really good! I especially like jerrycans of different colors - many different shades enliven the model. This is a great little set and nicely detailed but also with its problems, mainly very very soft plastic. See the below pics The Tamiya British Special Air Service Jeep in 1/35 scale from the plastic military model range accurately recreates the real life US made off-road vehicle used by the British SAS during World War II. This plastic model kit requires paint and glue to complete. Nige99 wrote:Excellent build so far! Your attention to detail is spot on. I think if you've already glossed the model then you can keep adding your filters. Thanks, Nige. I'm enjoying learning these techniques. I followed your build closely - great inspiration for me.The gunner is meant to be holding a water bottle in his left hand. Only noticed it was missing when I looked at the photo! Rifle Green - The Rifles (light infantry by tradition), The Small Arms School Corps, the Royal Ghurka Rifles, the Essex Yeomanry.

Fabulous model kit I work with young people in a special educational needs school snd one young man is really keen on model making The more different details and shades, the better and more interesting the model looks. And doing so is usually quite straightforward. Nige99 wrote:Nice job so far! Love the etch brass you done yourself. Looks so much better than the standard kit I'm doing.

WHY BUY FROM US

replaced the bowed and bent soft plastic drive shafts with ones from scratch using brass, solder, and plastic for the U-joints. I will ask the questions for you - may take time "because of covid" ( the 3 words I hate the most these days) to get responses. Currently working on the chassis and engine. I will post more when relevant. If you have any input towards the build, please share it will me (thanks). Hi BigWall, thanks for the motivating words. Not so sure about the "brilliant" part, but thanks just the same.
