God wants you to serve others—this is called ministry, the fourth purpose for your life. The way God planned for you to serve others is uniquely yours. Would you consider yourself a member or spectator at your church? Explain why. (For example, you consider yourself a spectator because you regularly go to church and attend the after-service coffee hour, but you don’t interact with your church during the week.) Describe an experience of forgiveness in your fellowship. (For example, you accidentally spread information that was shared with the group in confidence. Your group member forgives you and doesn’t bring your mistake up the next time you share sensitive information.)
Also, there was too much focus on the individual rather than on God ...initially it was all about how life isn't about you but then it proceeded to focus on looking into yourself and making decisions in life in regards to your calling based on how you feel about it rather than on scripture and prayer. Also. A bunch of jargon about self love and misplaced positions on the most important things about being a Christian. First I must say that I am a Christian. I think me being a Christian will affect how I rate this book. Not that I am gonna be bias and give it a five star. As you guys can see, there's only three and according to my profile where I included how I rate my reads, three stars really isn't that good. Spiritual growth is not automatic…You must want to grow, decide to grow, make an effort to grow, and persist in growing.” But the book and the instructions there just seemed so commanding. Christianity isn't like that. God isn't manipulative. He is a loving God. In this book, I felt like God was so killjoy and he just want us to do the things that He wants and that will please Him. That if we follow our will, there will be doom and gloom. I am starting this book today. I am also going to do what it suggests - only read one chapter a day for 40 days. So that means, I will finish this book in a little over a month.
You build meaningful relationships with the members of your spiritual family when you’re a member of your church, not a spectator. Accountability partners: Engage in regular discussion with others about your purposes. You’ll gain a better understanding of your purposes, get new ideas for fulfilling them, and strengthen your faith. Look around you—a good support system for the purpose-driven life probably already exists in your community. For example, you might ask your fellowship group to act as your accountability partners or meet up monthly with a friend who’s on the same spiritual journey as you. The second purpose of your life is unselfishly loving fellow members of God’s family. God created us to be part of a spiritual family that dedicates itself to loving and honoring him—as a believer, you’re not only his child but a sibling to all other past, present, and future believers. In loving your spiritual family, you’ll learn the essential skill of unselfish loving. Unselfish loving means loving others, even when it’s difficult to do so—such as when they’re being rude, it’s inconvenient for you, or they need too much from you.
