About this deal

Bottom Line? Overall, I really liked it. 🤷🏼‍♀️ Max was my flavor of j/p hot, Cassidy was my flavor of sweet. The story was solid. I plan to read the next book. But the unnecessary prison story line and the need for an editor to remove the excess put this at 3.5 stars for me. 😅 The beginning is a little slow moving, mostly due to the very anti-clamactic way they meet and his reactions... but it does take off. He goes full crazy-town mode and steals her away. I enjoyed that aspect. I was bit put off by some of the BDSM elements, because it seemed like he'd been that way with other partners before... where did that collar come from??? I don't like it when BDSM elements just seems like what the H does with all his partners, and the h isn't special. I did appreciate that it wasn't really formal hard-core BDSM... so, no costumes beyond the collar, and no safe words... He just likes control, and she likes giving it to him. Author notes: Our Thing is book one in The Kids of The District series and has a happily for now with part two live. Part two has a happily ever after. This book features a powerful and grumpy hero and an endearing, sunshine -like heroine. Both main characters are possessive and fight for each other. It is a love story, with spice, steam, violence, and drama. Enjoy. The first is to be the youngest leading ballerina in her academy. She will need unwavering dedication. No time for men. Unfortunately, her heart didn't get the memo, because her second secret want. . . is Max Butcher.

I enjoyed this one a lot it managed to easily pull me into the narrative and these two have so much chemistry together it finishes on a HFN so no cliffhanger and I’m definitely ready for more Cassidy and Max in the next book which I’m looking forward to starting. This was so good. I love that it was different; the characters weren't your cliche mafia bad boy and good girl. I may be a silly little girl to him, but he's intent on protecting, possessing, and claiming me in every way—his little piece of purity. They'll both have to fight for their happy ending what ever that looks like in the corrupted world they live in ♡

Chapter 10 ~ "I love you Max Butcher," I whisper. "I don't deserve you" –he presses his lips to mine– "Cassidy Slater. I'm keeping you anyway. " ♥︎

Those words are dangerous. Just about as dangerous as the world I was born into. As dangerous as the ruthless bastards that I call family.I adore Max and Cassidy and 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐢𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠! Cassidy is sweet, considerate and talented. She wears her heart on her sleeves, Max on the flip side is hard to read. He is also known to be a playboy and claims he doesn’t do monogamy, yet he is different around his 𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐭𝐥𝐞 𝐨𝐧𝐞. He has a soft spot for her and can’t stay away from her though he knows he should. That term of endearment makes me swoon every time he says it 😍 While this book is 100% from Cassidy's point of view I feel you still get a great read on Max. Cassidy falls fast as she is already half in love with Max before she's actually met him. After a drunken conversation at her birthday party Max feels a pull to Cassidy that he just can't avoid, No matter how much he wants to. Nobody seems to think Max and Cassidy are a good idea (including Max) But Cassidy believes in them and will do whatever it takes to show everyone they belong together. Where we left off here (and we do get a HEA for Max and Cassidy) left me wanting to learn more I’m so excited to be starting Bronson’s story next he’s such a contradiction of humour and violence so I’m looking forward to getting up close and personal with him. This series so far has been very enjoyable and I do recommend it. I could not stand the way Cassidy spoke. She sounded like a young teenager, which made the steamy parts of this book a little weird. As the youngest leading ballerina in my academy, my days are set. Routine. No time for boys. Unfortunately, my mind didn't get the memo, because there is always one name playing on my lips. . . Max Butcher.

This one had the slight edge for me on the previous book in the series and this one unlike the first is definitely set firmly in the criminal underbelly. This is Cassidy Slater and Max Butchers story Cassidy is the baby Sister of Konnor and Max is a key player in the district. There’s a couple of twists, one I saw coming and one I didn’t. And that one ruined me. Like snot dribbling, ugly crying got me. And that friggin’ letter. I WAS A MESS!!! There was a bit of involvement of other side characters here and there, which added to the tension of the world. The focus of the plotline heavily falls on romance; there was little exploration and explanation of the world which I am curious about and hope we get to see more of that in the second book.
