About this deal

It does, however, make the problematic routes all the more painful. Two of the dating options, Ryouichi Futami and Mizuki Iochi, are in their 20's, significantly older than Hiyori. I'm not a fan of age gaps personally, but I accept that as a common fantasy, they have a place in a genre that is all about allowing women to explore potentially unsafe fantasies in a safe way. However, Hiyori's relationships with them have the stink of too-real power dynamics. She craves their attention and approval, drawn to their adulthood in a way that makes it impossible for them to form an equal partnership. The way they respond to her affections, including taking advantage of them, feels a bit too much like grooming, which is not a term I use lightly, considering its position in current political rhetoric and Mizuki's gender identity. The plot-based nature of the game also makes it impossible to reach the game's conclusion without going through their routes. However, they're also voiced by superstar voice actors Tomokazu Seki and Megumi Ogata, who are both a delight no matter what role they're playing. One of the unique aspects of Charade Maniacs is that each individual route reveals hints about the overarching plot, keeping you guessing not only the identity of the “traitor” but also the motivations of each character. Are these dashing gents really on your side? Who’s telling the truth? Who’s lying? Who do you trust most? I agree with most of what you said and with the review. I actually quite enjoyed this game despite the art not being that outstanding compared to other releases around the same time. I liked discovering bits of the truth through all of the different routes. I must say, Dazai didn’t stand out to me before I started playing, but oh my 😍 I’ve found my next favorite VA. I actually also liked Akase a lot despite his route being the first one I completed. Saito Soma is always good, plus, I agree that they had good chemistry. I thought they were cute together even if their relationship was a little “basic.” I actually had high expectations for Gyobu because of the review, but was kind of underwhelmed. He was fine, but nothing was too memorable. I ended up liking Ebana more than I expected to, and was very disappointed with Futami despite the warning, as Seki Tomokazu is one of my favorite VAs 😅 When they awoke, they met nine others in the same predicament. In their confusion, the mysterious figure began to speak.

But, despite that imbalance, I did enjoy each route because of how dynamic the love interests are. Each LI has their own distinct personality and motivations, and regardless of how I felt about them I genuinely wanted to know more about them. Especially Iochi. I had heard that Charade Maniacs had a non binary love interests, and I’ll be honest I was curious to see how they would be portrayed in the game. With summer break just around the corner the protagonist Hiyori, enjoys a peaceful life as a 2nd-year high school student.Everyone must act out "dramas" for a chance to escape, all whilst avoiding the trappings of a traitor. As messy as Charade Maniacs can be, I was definitely invested. I love a good mystery, Zero Escape and Buried Stars are my jam, so you can bet I was eating up all the twists and turns . This is a game that is just as much about the journey as it is the destination, with each route bringing you ever closer to the truth behind Hiyori and the other’s unusual circumstances. Much like Hiyori, the story constantly keeps you wondering “who is the traitor?” No one is above suspicion and I found myself along for the ride! I must have accused everyone at least twice over and I can honestly say I did not see the reveal coming (for better or worse). Trust me, you’ll want to know who it is! Maeno Tomoaki as “Keito Ebana”– Lupin (Code Realize), Riku (Lover Pretend), Yamanbagiri (Touken Ranbu), Red (TaiAli),Camus (Utapri), Radius (Period Cube), Keisuke Sanjo (CollarxMalice), Son Hak (Yona of the Dawn)

Takumi Haiji (CV. Nobuhiko Okamoto) – A childish, softpoken boy who doesn’t quite grasp the situation everyone is in. He joins the Cooking Team. What is the traitor’s aim and the real reason this drama series is even happening in the first place?

Here they’re forced to perform little dramas for the sake of some unknowable audience out there, and any that fail or refuse to participate are… disappeared. The challenges get harder and more dangerous and, what’s worse, one of the group is a mole and plant by the “producer” that imprisoned them all. And so Hiyori and her reverse harem are forced to go through the motions of these performances while also trying to figure out who is trying to betray them. Finally, as they do that, they’re also searching for some kind of escape from their predicament. Nov 25 i☆Ris the Movie - Full Energy!! - Anime Film Teaser Visual Revealed at i☆Ris Live Stage in Anime NYC & i☆Ris First Performance in New York Successfully Completed Despite my qualms with the story, I must give the character design some props. As I mentioned, Futami is absolutely gorgeous (despite his questionable personality…), Mizuki Iochi is a non-binary character who keeps everyone else grounded, and Mei Dazai is a quiet fellow who your character believes has a good heart. The rest of the boys also bring their own charm and are drawn with a fantastic anime art style. And really… what else actually matters in an otome game if we’re being real.
