Offshore – A collection of eight short stories, all set on islands off the coast of the UK, and features cases for both DI Jimmy Perez on Shetland, and DI Willow Reeves on Uist in the Outer Hebrides. Shetland is a Scottish crime drama series made by ITV Studios for BBC Scotland and first broadcast on BBC One on 10 March 2013. Originally based upon the novels of Ann Cleeves and adapted by David Kane, the first seven series starred Douglas Henshall as DI Jimmy Pérez and Ashley Jensen as DI Ruth Calder from the eighth series onwards. A journalist dies in a suspicious car accident, and when it turns out he was an old friend of Pérez's, a forensic scientist is called in to ensure an objective view of the case. As the team awaits her results, they look into the reasons for the victim's return to the island and find he was chasing a lead about plans for a controversial new gas pipeline.

Shetland Island is a series of six primary works span by well known Britain’s Duncan Lawrie Dagger award winning author Ann Cleeves. As the name suggests the basic setting is the Shetland Island with the story centered on the life of Inspector Jimmy Perez. As far as mystery stories go, this series definitely has readers hooked on its suspense. Each of the books has received praise for being able to keep readers intrigued. When a young archaeologist discovers human remains, locals are at once fascinated – but are the remains as ancient as they seem? Or is this a modern murder mystery? Before long, an elderly woman is shot and DI Perez enters the picture. Are the events related? Who could be the culprit? Ann is the author of the books behind ITV's VERA, now in it's third series, and the BBC's SHETLAND, which will be aired in December 2012. Ann's DI Vera Stanhope series of books is set in Northumberland and features the well loved detective along with her partner Joe Ashworth. The stories take place largely on the eponymous archipelago, although some of the filming takes place on the Scottish mainland.
