About this deal

Narrator– voiced by Martin Clunes who told the story and, at times, interacted with the actors and the audience. He has been known to panic in crisis situations. He has some talent for JimJamYAHA, which he used to get Roger's attention.

He was born in Doncaster to Ernest and Phyllis (nee Downing), who ran a guesthouse, and from Thorne grammar school in Doncaster went to Leeds teacher training college, where he met his future wife Kathy (nee Wilkinson). Moving to her native Cheshire they both taught at Grange junior school in Runcorn, getting married in 1960 and having two children, me and Simon. British Brevity: Four seasons, 36 episodes. The first two seasons are on VHS and DVD... alternatively, you could just watch them on YouTube. A Children's Company Production in association with United film & television productions for Merdian Broadcasting (silent) Hey, It's That Voice!: Doc Martin is the Narrator; he is, of course, a prime example of a Lemony Narrator (with a good dollop of Deadpan Snarker thrown in, natch). A special documentary episode was also made and was released on DVD on the first volume of the second series. VHS and DVD releasesNow you can join Roger and his Troll friends in this madcap collection which contains all the episodes from Series 1 of ITV's BAFTA Award winning TV series.

Roger and the Rottentrolls started life as a book and audio tape, written by Tim Firth and commissioned by EMI and W H Smith and produced by Robert Howes and The Children's Company, intended as a 'spooky story' for children part of a series, of over thirty titles.Tim's dad, Gordon, who had originally invented the characters, drew the designs for all the characters from which the puppets were made. The pilot for the television series was filmed in and around old lead mines in the Yorkshire Dales, by multi award winning documentary director/cameraman Paul Beriff, as a gesture of support for the project. Miles Gloriosus: Commander Harris appeared to become this as the show went on. He's an experienced veteran, but has been known to completely fall to pieces when things go south. The Football Sponsorship Scandal - King Roger has a new football and as all the Rottentrolls want to play, but Penyghent, a girl, turns out to be the best player.

Examples of tropes:

A compilation video of the British Kids TV, judged by audience and British iconicism, musical production, nostalgia, and personal opinion. Live-action, puppets, hand-drawn animation, stop-motion animation, CGI, it's all covered: from Fireman Sam to The Family-Ness, Grange Hill to Going Live!, Postman Pat to Pocoyo, and Thunderbirds to Thomas the Tank Engine, you're sure to relive your childhood with this extensive compilation. Rottentroll of the Year - King Roger is given the thankless task of choosing "Rottentroll of the Year" without upsetting all the other Rottentrolls. Also living in the valley were Commander Harris, a sheep and ex-army mascot who was skilled in the ancient art of JimJamYaha, and a terrifying and menacing creature called the Barguest. Ripley and Scuff– A pair of young Rottentrolls, sons of Sigsworthy Crags. They appear in Series 4, and in their own spin off series, Ripley and Scuff. They seemed to have inherited their father's mental instability, or at least his tendency to make dog noises. They also communicate through making drumming noises.

Closer to Earth: Pretty much all the female characters are shown to be at least a little bit brighter than the boys, with Penyghent pretty much being the Only Sane Rottentroll. Not used too badly, what with Roger and Aysgarth balancing things out as a pretty down-to-earth kid and a wise old Rottentroll respectively... until season 3, which introduced Kate, Roger's sister, with her and Penyghent being The First Two Faces Of Eve pretty much every episode. They seemed to have inherited their father's mental instability, or at least his tendency to make dog noises. They also communicate through making drumming noises. Using storylines he had devised himself, the show ran for four years from 1996 to 2000, and won a Bafta, after which Gordon featured in a spin-off children’s show in 2002-03, Ripley and Scuff, appearing as the artist Grandad Gordon, who encouraged children to get involved in art. It was an appropriate role, for Gordon had specialised in art as a teacher, having risen to become head of junior schools in Warrington and then Runcorn. Not used too badly, what with Roger balancing things out as a pretty down-to-earth kid... until season 3, which introduced Kate, Roger's sister who pretty much ended up being a Canon Sue from day one, with her and Penyghent being The First Two Faces Of Eve pretty much every episode.Ripley and Scuff – A pair of young Rottentrolls, sons of Sigsworthy Crags.
