For myself, I too love this movie. It’s hard to write a more glowing review about a movie like this than the one we already have on file. Ever since I was a kid I’ve loved the look and feel of stop motion animation watching the classic Ray Harryhausen movies like The 7th Voyage of Sinbad and Clash of the Titans. There’s something magical about these creatures that CGI just doesn’t capture. So when you get an entire feature film made in that painstakingly slow process I get pretty excited!

It's a gorgeous picture to behold, but occasionally fails Naturally the character of Coraline takes centre stage and has to appeal to the cinema going audience, therefore the voice acting talent chosen had to imbue her with that confident attitude, yet still remain tender and identifiable. The role fell to Dakota Fanning, just fourteen at the time of recording her lines, but already an accomplished actress with spectacular turns in Man on Fire (2004) and War of the Worlds (2005) to name but two. Clearly her voice is still young, and needed to be so; there is that childlike wonder and incessant chatter, whether it is chastising Wybie, impinging on her parent’s time, or steeling against ‘other mother’, and she showed a talent that was far beyond her years. Combining that with the distinctive look given to the puppet and you have a very endearing character. the film, indulging reoccurring Gaiman themes of heroism and magic while furthering his own interest in creepy crawly creatures and bizarre Tim Creepy Coraline" (5:03, HD) highlights the gross elements of the picture, taking a look at the creation and animation of Burton-esque production design choices. delivers an experience that seems to erase the boundaries of the speakers and engulf the listener into Dakota Fanning, Ian McShane, Jennifer Saunders, Dawn French, and Teri Hatcher headline this terrific voice cast. Obviously, the figures don’t really look like their respective actors, but they feel like they belong to them. I can picture Teri Hatcher and John Hodgman as yuppie gardening bloggers. I can imagine Ian McShane as a retired circus man. French and Saunders are well, basically French and Saunders but really funny and hyper-exaggerated. Then we have Keith David as the cat and anytime that guy gets to do any voice work is a good day. I still maintain that if/when they ever do another live-action Spawn movie by default he should do the voice no matter who wears the costume. However, let’s just say that she might think some of the things seen in this “other” version of the apartment building are just the result of her imagination and perhaps not only dreams but there’s actually something a bit more sinister going on here. The story is about a young girl named Coraline who moves with her family to a small town and discovers a parallel universe behind a secret door in their new house. The caveat here is that while the alternate universe is quite fun and zany, there's a sinister and evil entity lurking in the shadows that causes Coraline to come to terms with her lot in life and make amends with her family. Still, after more than a decade, this film is sweet, charming, and haunting and leaves some lasting visuals that will no doubt conjure up some nightmares.
