Asus: ASUSTeK Computer Inc. is a major Taiwanese computer hardware manufacturer based in Taipei, founded in 1989. Under the Asus brand name, the company manufactures a wide range of products, including laptops, desktops, motherboards, graphics cards, monitors, smartphones and networking equipment, complete systems and PC components for end users. On top of that, the redesign comes with a noticeable increase in the laptop’s overall weight and a slightly larger footprint, as well as a gimped keyboard and most of the IO being now placed on the right side, which is not ideal for my setup.

On Balanced, with demanding loads, the fans run quieter and the internals reach lower temperatures in the high-70s to low-80s, while the chassis temperatures are about the same as on Performance. That battery isn’t helping much with this 12th-gen Intel Core model, though, as efficiency is still a concern with the current software. The performance, on the other hand, is pretty good here, with higher-power settings leading to a significant step-up in CPU performance, and marginal gains in GPU capabilities.
Zenbook 14 OLED (UX3402, 12th Gen Intel) - ASUS United Kingdom
Stanegly, its thunderbolt port refuses to display to usb c monitor – Lenovo T-24h-20 through a usb c cable supplied with the monitor. I am able to display with three other usb c laptops – all non thunderbolt, with this cable. Only charging gets started with Asus. I have even tried even a very expensive thunderbolt certified cable. Same result. However, if I use a C to HDMI adapter on this port, the display works, but this defeats the very purpose of C port. While it might not seem obvious at a first glance, the 2022 ZenBook 14 is different than the previous generation in a multitude of ways. We’re looking at a ~20% drop in CPU and GPU performance compared to the Performance mode, with variations between the different tests and scenarios, which is a compromise worth considering.The new implementation, alongside the more aggressive fan profile, allows for the higher power settings possible on the Performance mode with the 2022 ZenBook. The components are running hot in this case, though. The conclusion considers the other options that will be available later on, and especially those built on AMD Ryzen 6000 hardware, such as that Yoga 6 or the ZenBook 13 S (but probably others as well). I'm also hoping for a Ryzen 6000 update of the 14 inch UM3402. For me, AMD hardware is just better balanced for an ultraportable format, with superior CPU and GPU performance vs Intel Core P, and better runtimes. Significantly better. In fact, if GPU performance isn't that important, I might even go with a Ryen 7 5825U configuration of the UM3402 over the Core P UX3402, which over here is cheaper than the i5-1240P version of the ux3402. For connectivity, there’s the latest-gen WiFi 6E and Bluetooth 5.2 through an Intel module on this laptop, which performed well during my time with the laptop.
