About this deal

I know I had a LOT of questions about gloss mod podge so here are a few that you may have too! What Is The Difference In Formula Between Matte and Gloss Mod Podge? This visual guide is going to show you how each Mod Podge formula looks after you paint it onto your project and let it dry. I’ve also added a handy cheat sheet at the end that shows you all of the formulas in one graphic.

If you plan to hang your Diamond Painting or use Stretcher Bars to showcase it, it's crucial you first seal your finished painting. Brush-On Sealers Cut the design out of the Napkin and separate the layers.; you want to use only the top layer of the Napkin. Here is the mixed media project that I did in my gloss versus matte test! In person it is much easier to see the difference… the matte side looks perfectly plain, but the gloss side does have some similar depth in the colors and pictures. Gloss Mod Podge FAQs If you’re using a primed canvas, just wipe it with a dust cloth to make sure no particles remain on the surface. For an un-primed canvas, cover it with a few layers of gesso or acrylic paint to make sure there is a smooth surface underneath the layer of Mod Podge.Mod Podge Matte and Gloss are water based products (that is why you can clean your brushes with just soap and water). Used the high gloss Mod Podge to seal and was extremely disappointed in the outcome! All the dimensional sparkle was almost gone 😕. Not happy with the look at all. Gives it a one dimensional look. Any suggestions? Mod Podge works on paper, wood, fabric, glass, ceramic, and more. It is a product that you can use on any surface that you want, and while it won’t work on all plastic surfaces, there are some that it will work on.

I used super gloss mod podge..good but lost some of the shine? Hadn’t seen about watering it down 50/50 so will try that next. Tried a aerosol clear sealer…NOT a good move..it melted all the adhesive base an the diamonds all lifted off…so DON’T try that? 😜 There are two different ways to prepare your napkin or paper for appliqué, depending on what look you wish to create: I’ve been using modge podge super brilliant gloss when sealing my diamond paintings. It does lose some of the shine on the diamonds but I’d rather that than losing gems. After sealing it I use a hanger with clips and hang it on the bathroom shower rod. I’ll use another hanger with clips to secure the bottom to keep it tight/ straight. Once it’s dried I place it in an artist portfolio for storage. I’ve done this with 3 of my diamond paintings and I haven’t had a problem yet. Make sure you go over your painting with tape or something to get hair, dust, dirt etc off the canvas first. I also use a roller made for diamond paintings to make sure all the diamonds are secured before sealing. I get the modge podge from Walmart and it is not that expensive. It dries hard and you can’t roll up your painting after sealing it this way so be aware of that. It does look white when putting the sealer on but it dries clear. Using a foam brush, on the other hand, will help you deposit even amounts of Mod Podge all over the surface and will ensure a smoother finish without too much product gunking up the surface. 2. Layers Heat is a great way to speed up the drying process and using thin layers helps you achieve a faster drying time. The consistency of the heat needs to be controlled and should only be used for a few minutes before letting your craft project air-dry.All of the finishes will become clear once they have dried with the only difference being what they look like and how the light shines off of them. Matte finishes will look the clearest whereas the shiny and gloss finishes will have a layer of sheen on top. Ovens are also a great way to dry a layer of Mod Podge if your project is too big to manually apply heat. The thing to remember though is that it need to be only for a small amount of time and the oven should be turned off when you place your project inside. The residual heat will do the job for you. As time goes on, you'll want your Diamond Painting to look and feel as gorgeous as the day you finished it. So what can you do to keep your artwork perfect for years to come?
