About this deal

Pay in 3 is a form of credit, may not be suitable for everyone and use may affect your credit score. The inputs around the back of the TV – two HDMI and one USB on the 24-inch, and one more of each on the 32-inch – do jut out a bit from the casing, but they’re not overly prominent, and the compact nature of the WK3C is clearly a big selling point here. Combined with Dolby Atmos®, be transported from the ordinary into the extraordinary with breath-taking, moving audio that fills your room and flows around you. Features new 10-bit 1080p panel, 2nd generation "120hz refresh" [Clear Motion Drive II], premium 32-bit Genessa processor, 5th generation D. HDR content preserves details in the darkest and brightest areas of a picture, details that are often lost in old imaging standards.

We did find the gameplay cropped at the far edges, though, removing aspects of the HUD, and some games will likely suffer more than others in this regard. With a Blu-ray of The Matrix playing, motion is better resolved suggesting the Toshiba’s motion isn’t as slick with streaming. The Alexa support certainly covers what you’d get from an Echo speaker, or hope for from a smart TV. The 50UK3163DB isn’t as strong relative to its rivals when it comes to colour – but it’s not bad either. While the Toshiba TV brand might no longer be the truly Japanese powerhouse it once was, its latest owners are still slowly but surely making it a significant player in the European TV marketplace again.

There’s Miracast support for beaming the screen on your mobile device to the TV in lieu of Chromecast. The fact that its HDR support stretches to Dolby Vision is particularly welcome, as it shows a genuine interest in trying to give consumers a premium picture experience. If you are aware of a number of channels that are not being received it is likely that the aerial is not receiving strong enough signals to allow reception of these channels. If you really want to get an impression of HDR’s strengths without having to spend big on a much higher end TV, the 50UK3163DB won’t let you down.

The colour performance in SDR (standard definition range) displays natural colours, consistent with other Toshiba TVs I’ve tested, with a nice punch to colours in Pacific Rim on Blu-ray. Toshiba makes some very cheap LCD TVs without sacrificing on quality in quite the same way as some truly budget brands.
