the usual themes of love and friendship it really feels. It follows the historical events very closely and the world feels lived in. The manga doesn't let up with it's satisfying arcs of tension and resolution. The stakes are high and it feels like that in every major battle and the fights aren't solved by some asspull power ups but rather by strategy and wit. The art is cute and cool. The huge battlefields full of warriors are nicely rendered. The action scenes are clear and you can understand what's going on. It's good. So far this series is ok, not very attached to any of the characters yet. But I have heard that it gets better, plus I love Assassination Classroom so I have a feeling that this one will be great too. Plus the concept sounds really interesting and funny and I want to see how the characters manage to accomplish it.

Matsui then launched Assassination Classroom in 2012, and ended the series in March 2016 with 21 volumes. Viz Media published the manga in English. The manga inspired a 22-episode television anime series in 2015, and the show's 25-episode second season premiered in 2016. Funimation streamed both series and released them on home video. The manga also inspired the Assassination Classroom the Movie: 365 Days' Time anime film in 2016, and two live-action film adaptations in 2015 and 2016. The Korosensei Quest! spinoff manga also inspired a net anime series and an anime film. Nevertheless, the largest issue with the series is the amount of historical knowledge required to fully enjoy the series. The series largely does not attempt to explain the life, politics, and culture of 1333. Without prior knowledge of the Kamakura shogunate, Ashikaga shogunate, Emperor Go-Daigo, and shugo, this series is a tough read. I feel like this series would not have been licensed in English unless it became incredibly popular in Japan before the age of Weekly Shonen Jump simulpub. While I'm not attached to the characters right now, this was a solid start to what is bound to be a bloody, action-filled historical series. Having read Assassination Classroom and loved it, I was curious to see what Matsui's newest work would be like. Elusive Samurai still holds his trademark humor, but the violence and disturbing factor has been ratcheted up. The first chapter was brutal and set the tone for the rest of the series. Chapter 60: Kaori from City Hunter does her signature 100 ton hammer gag while the cast discusses the logistics of their upcoming invasion.
