The Holy Spirit: I believe the Holy Spirit is God the same way that the Father and the Son are God. The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of God, and His work can be seen in the lives of God’s people throughout the Old Testament and New Testament books. When Jesus ascended into heaven, He sent the Holy Spirit to dwell inside every believer who receives Him. The Holy Spirit helps believers fulfill their calling through convicting of sin, comforting, teaching, guiding, and empowering. The Holy Spirit is evidenced through the transformation of a believer’s heart toward the image of Christ and through the gifts of the Spirit being at work in a believer’s actions. Jesus the Son: I believe that Jesus existed with the Father before time began, and that all things were created through and for Him. Jesus is God’s Son, sent to earth as a man (fully human and fully God) to pay the penalty for the sins of the world. I believe that He died, rose again, and is seated at the right hand of God. I believe Jesus fulfilled His work on the cross because of His obedience to the Father, but also because of the love He shared with the Father. I believe that Jesus now acts as an advocate for all believers.
