A year later Agnieszka has managed to tame the Walkers who now help her in burning corrupted trees and in planting new, good trees.I know that this is an extremely unpopular opinion, Uprooted is beloved by many readers, but I hated this book; I’m disgusted with almost everything in it, especially the romance. Uprooted opens in a village where once every ten years, the Dragon (actually a man and wizard who rules over the land) comes and picks a seventeen year-old girl from the village and takes her to his palace. However, Agnieszka uses a summoning spell to determine that Kasia’s soul is still trapped in her body. Lazlo wrangles his way into the party when he impresses the emissary by speaking their language fluently. It blends the comedy, angst, and witty banter of typical YA dialogue with some smart adult fantasy politics and world-building.
