About this deal

you can use it to stream music from your favorite apps such as Spotify, Tidal, Qobuz, etc. while also controlling the volume from the app on your phone.

I would say yes, but only if you have older gear that needs a middleman, or entry-level active speakers like Edifiers or Presonus’ that you want to stream music with without the need for a PC or laptop. Tune Like An Expert: Fine tune your listening experience with our exclusive ACPWorkbench tuning tool. Find the perfect sound for each channel with EQ, Bass Enhancement, Advanced DSP Effects, Gain, Pregain and more.. If you ever wanted to take a PC out of your audio chain, but you didn’t want to spend a pretty penny on upmarket streamers, Arylic S10 might be just the thing you’d want to consider. It’s not just a streamer either but it comes with integrated D/A converter. Build and Connectivity Arylic S10 vs Triangle AIO Connect (79 USD vs 150 USD) – We have two very different Streamers here today. The biggest difference is that while S10 cannot do any kind of digital output, AIO Connect has a really noisy analogue output and using it via its line out was almost impossible, the noise floor being generally very audible. This is why direct comparisons would be complicated, AIO has the advantage of using an external DAC which may be more potent than S10, but it also has a starting price of double that of S10, where S10 replaces the DAC in a system. I would recommend considering AIO Triangle as a Streamer for more expensive setups, and S10 for entry-level, bedroom, or bedside setups where having a simple DAC with a simple AMP or even active speakers is fun and feasible. After installing the apps on the relevant smart device and hooking up the Arylics to the audio component(s) of choice, the only small hurdle to cross is connecting them to the home network. There are a few easy ways to do this, and all are explained in the manual. In other words, there aren’t too many devices out there that don’t support Bluetooth or streaming in some capacity. For instance, On the front, there are the Aux In, Network, Bluetooth, and USB lights which appear according to the source you’re using.

I then went though a very painful troubleshooting process with the manufacturer's customer service that took weeks. I was finally advised to get it replaced. No optical digital input; audio outputs are variable only, with no line level option; no LCD readout to display volume or function. Just make sure you use the supplied RCA to 3.5mm cable and connect it to some active speakers using the S10’s “Aux Out” port.Where the S50 Pro worked best for me was when doing stereo duties in the living room’s AV system. Connected directly to a power amp fed via RCA analogue from an Android TV box and WiFi for Internet, it found substantial use via Spotify Connect and enhanced the sound of every TV programme I was watching. Generally speaking, the AUX input does not sound as good as the Ethernet or the Wifi input. S10 supports inputs from Bluetooth 5.0, RJ45 Ethernet up to 100M, as well as Wireless signals from the 802.11b/g/n 2.4GHz networks. The Bluetooth distance is quoted to be about 30 Meters, but I found it to be roughly 15 meters with no obstacles for a good , reliable signal. The SNR is 91dB, which on paper is actually pretty humble, paired with a THD of about 0.03%, which on paper also sounds pretty meager.

The RCAs on the S50 Pro, however, speak of its audiophile aspirations, added to the fact that it features an ESS Sabre DAC and AKM ADC chips within. I had device issues from the very start. I had stereo sound issues which turned out to be due to the application. A complete remove and re-install helped resolve this. But I also had major hissing and noise on both the speakers, but more prominently on the right channel. I ruled out other system components by actual testing other devices; it was the S10. Arylic S10 comes in a really small box, not unlike those used to house Raspberry Pi boards. It looks quite simple but stylish, with sides made of matte aluminum and the glossy top that looks like some sort of acrylic material. The Pro V3 board has two siblings. The simplified version saved from not having audio in, USB in, and Ethernet connectivity, I2S output is retained so audio quality upgrade path is still there, and this can be a better choice for speaker build. The more elaborated version includes optical/digital port and an upgraded DAC, which can be a better choice for a streaming amp build. Both will be tested in the near future.S10 is able to decide FLAC, Mp3, AAc, ALAC, APE and WAV, and up to 24bit / 192kHz signals, weighing in about 200 grams. The remote works pretty nicely, and you will need to use the 4 Stream app with it. I found the app to be pretty awful for me, since it is slow, and the UI is cluttered with useless options, pretty complicated to get what you need it to do, but also fairly bug-free compared to the majority of APPs for Streamers. Setting S10 up takes about 20 minutes and once it is set up, everything works fairly well. I have to say that the performance is very good indeed. The Arylic S10 (confusing having two S10s to refer to here!), acquits itself brilliantly I feel – I have it hooked up to a Tisbury passive preamp and thereafter to a pair of AVI ADM 9RSS active speakers. The sound from the flac rips are as they should, full of the detail as it came off the original source CD. I run a Premium Spotify account with the audio set to the highest quality setting and again am very impressed. The award I give this is heavily influenced by the very low cost of the unit but needs to be taken with caveats mentioned in the body of the review. AT A GLANCE I don’t personally have a use for the S10 as I listen to music mostly through my laptop (with headphones and/or external speakers) and already have a receiver and passive speakers in my living room if I want to stream music through Bluetooth.
