About this deal

The eight-core processor helps the Honor Pad 8 achieve a solid system speed, but does not turn the tablet into a racehorse. Operation is mostly smooth in everyday use, but small stutters occur from time to time. Several open apps may push the Honor to limits, depending on the application. If games run smoothly, this is usually due to compromises in graphics details. Generally speaking, most casual users are unlikely to need their tablet to be an absolute powerhouse in the performance department. As long as it runs most apps smoothly, that suffices, as most intensive mobile games are often better suited to the smartphone form factor anyway. Software is the make-or-break feature for tablets, and the Honor-designed Magic UI sadly falls down onto the ‘break’ side of things. Reading through the specifications, we learn that the main and selfie camera each have a resolution of merely 5 MP. In the camera menu, we find out that both cameras can record videos at up to 1080p at 30 frames per second. The single microphone does its job quite well. The Honor Pad 8 has 22.5W charging when you need to top up that big battery again, and while that might sound like a decent rating for a modest tablet, it does still mean that charging is going to take a while to complete.

It feels pretty premium to hold, thanks to the glass material,. However, due to its size, we wouldn’t recommend using it with your hands – better to buy a stand or keyboard accessory and use it propped up on a surface. Honor Pad 8 displayPhotos and videos taken by the main and selfie camera are of modest quality. As a result, photos are not particularly sharp and are always somewhat washed out. On other hand, both cameras together reproduce colors quite vividly and realistically. However, the main camera cannot cope with low-light shots and hardly brings out details. For some people, these tasks are all you’ll want a tablet for, and if that’s you the Honor Pad 8 will be a fine budget option. But there are lots of other equally viable options on the market for those buyers too. Honor Pad 8 price and availability This feature is only available for HONOR Smartphones running Magic UI 3.0 and above version. If you have TÜV Rheinland low blue light certification test conditions: With Eye Protection mode enabled, the screen display passes the TÜV Rheinland low blue light test (excluding the color temperature adjustment portion). There’s 128GB storage, which isn’t too bad for a tablet of this price, and will likely be enough for most users – if you do need more, though, a microSD card slot gives you up to 512GB extra space. Honor Pad 8 software

Unveiled at the annual tech event IFA 2022 in September 2022, the Honor Pad 8 went on sale immediately after. The Pad 8 also scores with its lightweight and high-quality case and features such as good battery life, surround sound from 8 speakers, and DRM Widevine L1 for streaming HD content from Netflix & Co. The Honor tablet has a 5MP front and 5MP rear camera. Of course, you’re probably not buying this for photography, because even a dirt-cheap phone has better snappers, but they’re fit for purpose. As is tradition, you can’t review an Android tablet without complaining about the software experience. While iPadOS has come along in leaps and bounds over the years, Android’s big-screen experience still feels like an afterthought. The software is Honor’s own Magic UI 6.1 overlaid on Android 12. Honor is now fully separate from Huawei, so it has the full complement of Google Mobile Services that were previously missing from its devices following US legislation. Despite running Android 12 with Honor’s Magic UI 6.1 skin plastered over the top, the Pad 8 sadly isn’t much different. Multi-window support is welcome, but otherwise it functions exactly the same as any Android smartphone. The app icons are also scaled to the resolution of the display rather than the size, and they look far too big on the homescreen as a result. Honor has achieved a solid tablet debut with the Pad 8. If you are looking for a mid-range Android device that is large as possible and cheap as possible at the same time, Honor's 12-inch tablet is the right candidate because there are currently no cheaper alternatives in this form factor.
