I always love the representation Eddings includes in her books, and this was no exception. The PTSD and anxiety Jude copes with, along with the therapy Indira undergoes, were all presented in a very realistic and honest way. In fact, the therapy sessions in which Indira opens up about her history with Jude, were some of my favorite scenes hands down.

Knowing of her predicament, Jude feels for Indira. He's not heartless. Together they form a pact to fake date over the course of the wedding festivities. It will be great for both of them to have support during those events.Indira has a great job and apartment but has her life turned upside down when she comes home and catches her boyfriend cheating on her. She moves in with her brother before his wedding while looking for a new place to live. I don’t know how she does it, but somehow every book Mazey Eddings writes becomes my new favorite. It’s impossible not to fall in love with Jude and Indira, both individually and as a couple. She has roots in North Carolina and Ohio, but calls Philadelphia her home. I thought Eddings did a great job balancing the serious with the more light-hearted aspects. With this being said though, I did feel the tone of this one was a little different, heavier in a way, than the previous two.

I didn't realize The Plus One was the 3rd book in a series, so thankfully it was easily read as a standalone. AND the banter? pure artistry. i'm doing a thousand chef's kiss motions as i write. they have so much physical and verbal chemistry that i would like to send a request for mazy eddings to lead a banter and dialogue-writing retreat for romcom authors. Indira stopped. She wasn’t sure if it was the weight of the items she carried or the hurt that was radiating out from the center of her chest, but she realized she was trembling. She turned to look over her shoulder at the stranger. Even though The Plus One was emotional, it was also sexy and funny. Colin's wedding and the preparations leading up to his big day were fun, and I loved seeing Harper, Lizzie and Thu again! Indira was the pesky little sister of Jude’s best friend and neither liked the other. When Indira walks in on her boyfriend being unfaithful, she moves in with her brother at the same time Jude is staying there as well. Wedding prep is keeping the circle of friends busy so Indira and Jude end up faking a relationship. Fake, real, who can say what goes on behind closed doors?One of my favorite aspects was the incredibly fun dialogue. Harper had a great friend group and the dynamics between them all was fantastic. If you are a Reader who loves hilarious dialogue, you have to read this.
