About this deal

Alongside NZXT’s H5 Flow is their H5 Elite, with is a more expensive variant of the H5 that ships with a tempered glass front panel, two front-mounted F140 RGB fans, and a built-in RGB controller. In out opinion, the H5 Elite’s design is compromised by its tempered glass front panel, as it will restrict airflow and limit the case’s cooling potential. That said, the H5 Flow does not come with any front mounted fans, which means that buyers will need to buy two 120mm or 140mm fans to make proper use of the case’s perforated front panel.

As you can imagine, the H5 Flow has air cooling on the brain. There have been higher-airflow variants of previous NZXT cases, including the H510, and this model shares the same mesh pattern on the front panel. A twist on NZXT’s usual design language, but by no means an ugly one, say I. The H5 Flow then goes much further in its pursuit of a good draught, adding a curious diagonally-angled front intake fan that looks like it melted into the PSU shroud. It takes up the space that’s normally occupied by a hard drive cage, but now that SSDs are almost as cheap, that’s hard to consider a big loss, and having a second preinstalled fan at the front sounds better than having it in the roof. I prefer mounting AIO liquid cooler radiators at the front and letting their fans double as the main intakes, so in this layout, the GPU will get some fresh air that hasn’t already been dragged over a hot radiator. The only thing that we will comment about the H5 Flow’s pricing is that we would liked to have seen at least one additional fan to intake from the case’s perforated front panel. We have only recieved NZXT’s H5 Flow for review, so we cannot comment on the cooling potential of the H5 Elite based on hand-on experience with the enclosure. That said, there is no way that front-mounted glass panel doesn’t reduce the H5 Elite’s airflow. The added 17mm of width also does more than you’d think for comfortable building. It’s mainly felt in the cable management department, with more space behind the right side panel to stuff and wrap loose cabling. Wire-wrangling remains a strength of NZXT chassis designs, and with deeper routing channels than the H510 combined with helpfully reusable Velcro straps, the H5 Flow continues the tradition. The extra space also means there’s room to vertically mount a 3.5in hard drive, if you really do insist on keeping mechanical storage around. There’s space for up to two 2.5in SSDs here as well, which together with an ideally M.2-form factor drive, is plenty enough for the average gaming PC.

NZXT are revamping its case lineup, and today the company has released the successor to their H510 Flow, the H5 Flow. When creating this case, NZXT has two clear goals in mind, to improve airflow, and to improve the case’s overall cooling potential.Gather round, children, and I’ll tell you of something magical: the NZXT Source 340 compact mid-tower PC case with side window, product code CA-S340W-B1. Good gravy, did I love that case. Tightly proportioned without being too cramped for a full-size graphics card, maturely designed without looking dull, and hewn from some of most gorgeously textured matte steel I’ve seen on a piece of computing hardware. Don’t even get me started on the upgraded Source 340 Elite. It’s been years since these cases disappeared from sale and ascended to Component Heaven, and although it’s taken a few tries, there’s finally a new chassis that’s worthy of the legacy: the NZXT H5 Flow.

With a beautiful glass figure, the H5 Elite is ready for a closeup. The first thing you will notice about the H5 Elite is its tempered glass side and front panel giving a look at three very bright, very awesome RGB F Series fans. We’ve made cable routing easy and simple with a wider, more spacious rear panel network. At the bottom of the case, we now have an intake fan similar to H5 Flow for better internal airflow during overnight game marathons. To top it all off, we ensured this case retained the classic H510 Elite shape for those iconic RGB focused builds. Cooling is a Snap With support for an extra front-mounted fan, the H5 Flow can have three intake fans for system airflow. Thanks to the case’s support for a 240mm radiator or All-In-One Liquid cooler within the chassis, users can now use their CPU cooler’s liquid cooling radiators as an exhaust. No more need to use a front-mounted radiator that will pre-heat all air that enters your system. For gamers that want to keep their GPUs cool and quiet, the importance of this change cannot be understated. NZXT’s new T120 and T120 RGB heatsinks are products that make a lot of sense for NZXT as a company. As a producer of pre-built systems, NZXT needs an affordable heatsink that they can install on their more basic systems. Additionally, their T120 series of heatsinks offer PC builders a more affordable cooling solution than their Kraken series of All-In-One (AIO) CPU Liquid Coolers.Â
